I don't know if this is upside down Vivien, but anywhichway it looks good!
Those colours and w/c effects are beautiful. How big?

This is really beautiful! I love the soft colors. I wish I could paint something like this.

thank you all :)

Yes, it's the right way up - I painted the flowers lying flat when they'd been picked and I liked the different angle on them :)

WOW, the colors! This is wonderful!
Vivien, you mentioned mixed media. Besides the watercolors, what did you use? and what size is it? It looks large.
Again, WOW!

thanks everyone :o

The mixed media isn't as mixed as it sometimes gets! It's watercolours, watercolour pencil to create those speckles (I'd just read a fabulous book by Shirley Trevena and it's a technique of hers! there's a review of it on my blog if anyone wants to read more - too much to put here) and some normal coloured pencil too.

The fine lines are created by turning the paintbrush around and scratching into wet paint with the 'wrong' end of the brush while the paint is damp, drawing with it and denting/damaging the paper just slightly and making the wash of paint 'take' darker.
