View Full Version : Art Nouveau on Porcelain.

I was away most of September, so missed the great Plant Parade with the Art Nouveau theme -- just love all of the beautiful pieces in that Thread.

This is nothing like the Iris Thread, and there aren't a lot of flowers in it, but I thought it was topical considering Art Nouveau has been the subject for the past month.

I painted this on an 8" round Porcelain Plate. The raised areas are Enamel and Raised Paste, laid down with a stylus. I've also used Mother-of-Pearl in the wide area around the ladies head and on the outer circle next to the gold. The gold is Liquid Gold that I applied with a brush.

All C&C most welcome.

Val, that is very pretty. Such a good job on the hair and all the rest. Several years ago I got involved with wanting to paint porcelain plates, then started with the dolls, which worked into a mail order business for about 8 years. Porcelain and china paint still fascinate me. Beautiful work you did on this. The Mother-of-Pearl is a nice touch and seems to reflect her hair.

This is really lovely Val - (and irises would have made it a perfect addition to the PP thread!) :wink2: - but this stands on its own as a masterpiece - so much detail and so well done.
thank you for sharing it :D

Thankyou Kathleen and Maureen -- your kind comments are very much appreciated. I almost didn't post it, as it hasn't got too many flowers in it, but I thought I would, considering we'd just had Art Nouveau in the Plant Parade.

I've just checked out this thread. Beautiful, painstaking work done...it's sooo breathtaking. I just stare at the tiny pearls and raised decor at the border. And the hair, flowers are impeccible, rendered softly...just amazing.

Val, that is very lovely. How do you fit a motive to a plate?
