View Full Version : Copying an old master wip

09-28-2007, 07:48 AM
Hi there

I got a now exciting commision to do! My client asked me to make a pastel painting copying this old picture:

She wanted it to be longer so I added a bit to the top part, so now my ref looks like this:

This is my sketch:

I only have till next friday to finish this so I've used a grid method to do the sketch part.
This measures 50 x 60 cm...almost a full sheet of art spectrum paper (black)
I hope I can make the deadline. :)

Thanks for looking

Beautiful! Love to see your work! Thank you!

Try maybe adding a little ladybug on the raspberries to keep with the bugs on the other main part. I think that would really make it blend in well.

JON805, Eggy, and CharcoalBlender, thank you for looking and commenting :D

artist_pw, thanks I'll have a look at that. Great suggestion!

Here's my next update. I wanted to do some more on it tonight, but right now I have a massive headace that wont allow me to paint. :crying:
I hope it clears by tomorrow.

Hi Dorte, I just love to see how you work and this is so interesting to watch. We all know it will turn out beautifully, your work always does! Hope you're feeling better, a headache is not helpful for feeling artistic.

Thanks JON805, I'm using a set of 12 daler-rowney softpastels (professional quality), a set of 15 Schmincke finest extra-soft artists' pastels and a black faber-castel pitt pastel pencil :)
