Hi Folks, just finished this I think, arches 140,7x11. davinci&cotman,ultra,cobalt blue,cadyell,cadred,brtsienna,yelloche and I cheated used chinese white. I didn't paint the exact pic, c&c welcome.James J

Very nice adaptation of the scene from the reference photo.

I like the layering in the sky and the masts on the boat. Good work on the reflection too. I'm not sure why you stopped the color from the water where you did. If you were trying to show sunlight hitting the water in the back, would there still be some color from the reflection of the sky in it?

You might think about adding some cast shadows from the boat onto the pier and pilings on the right side as you see in the photo. That would make the boat stand out more also.

Great that you used your "artistic license" to re-create this scene a bit. Great reflection. Shadows are a great piece of advice.

I like this.
The boat is looking good. I think more dramatic shaddows only because that is what I am struggling with right now so that's all I'm focusing on.

I think with care you could add more colour to the water, just keep the strokes horizontal and introduce some foreground ripples.
