Woohoo - now that is a painting!!! Just awesome, super comp and super colors - loving it!! (...would look even better on my kitchen wall........ :D)

Dorte - La Carte is sanded (or cork, really) and feels more "gritty" - and it is perfect for fine detail. To me velour and Art Spectrum are both smoother surfaces, takes a bit more work to get detail...but you seem to work wonders on velour so that might not be a problem for you...?

Lin - amazing painting, you're very talented!

09-24-2007, 02:22 PM
Oh, this is fabulous! I was going to try candy apples myself, but now! No way will I post it if I do try it. These look so true to life - amazing!

09-24-2007, 02:52 PM
The realism is amazing! You even caught the inevitable bubbles that form against the apple's skin below the surface of the candy. I bow to you!!!

09-24-2007, 03:00 PM
Hehe, thanks everyone.. .but now I have a problem... I just hung these above my couch and they fit my room soooooo well !! How am I going to part with them? hmmm

09-24-2007, 03:39 PM
This work is amazing.......picking up my jaw from the floor now.

09-24-2007, 03:53 PM
Melanie, you'll just have to do another for your couch...it would go in my newly painted room also...:D

09-24-2007, 04:59 PM
well... if they don't sell... I won't be upset.. .lets put it that way :)

09-24-2007, 05:35 PM
That is great!!! I think I just got a cavity!!!! Can we forward you our dental bills?

09-24-2007, 07:03 PM
well my painting has 0 calories and 0 sugar so if you get cavities it wasn't from my painting ;)

Amazing ... how do you do that...

09-25-2007, 08:25 AM
I am so not into photorealism-- it generally leaves me cold. But this goes way beyond photorealism. This I really really really like. It is truly a work of art. There is the composition, and the relationship of form, and the play of shadow and light, and the remarkable skill to put all this together into a painting that not only draws me in, but makes me want to keep that thing where I can look at it a lot.

And I don't even like candied apples.

WOW!!!!! This is absolutely stunning! Did you have a reference photo, or did you work from real life?

09-30-2007, 02:53 AM
HI Gail,
In this one, I worked from my own reference photo. Sometimes I work from life and sometimes both life and photos at the same time. :)
