I have been hunting for more material on Whistler's etchings. I find books with a few pages on his etchings, but none that specifically talk about the facet of his work although in reading about him it says that he was primarily a printmaker not a painter. Anyone know of a book that I might have over looked?

Alright, Cindy! Thank you so much! When I first began working in intaglio I became fascinated by dry point work after doing a report for my department on Whistler's work. I then began studying every piece of his work I could find, and my own dry point work shows his influence to this day. He really did do some amazing work http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

sass,
I also was attracted to Whistler's drypoints. I read that he had a job as a land surveyer or the like and was always given flak from his employers for having sketches of people in the margins of his survey drawings.
