I have been working on this THING for a week. I have gotten a few more gray hairs from it. I decided it would not break me. I would finish it. I did. I don't like it but I did finish it. I even discovered I had dreams about it. I will probably gesso over it. I am not sure about that, but I wanted to post it and let you all know it drove me nuts. But I did enjoy it. I know that sounds funny. I sat the still life up on a dresser with a piece of cloth. It is two bottles of vinigar, one with herbs and the other with peppers. C&C please. Jan - Don't you hate those times when you just can't seem to get past whatever is making you nuts! The only problem I see is that the spacing between 3 points. That being the two bottles and the bowl. They are too evenly spaced. The other tiny crit is all the folds are pointing to the center. I guess what it comes down to is the composition doesn't work well though you've done a good job painting . I love the vinegar with the dill or whatever in it!

Bottles, Bowl, And Some Acid - I thought you were describing some new painting technique! :D

Besides the largest bottle being too centralized, imo, I think it's a winner. Nice color. I wouldn't gesso over it. You picked the perfect frame for it.

Thank you Linda, I think I will keep it. Jan

It would be a shame to gesso over all that work. I like it.

I have it varnished and in a frame. I am going to hang it in the spare bedroom. The bed cover is a tan and moss green and it seems to match the painting. Thank you all for your comments. Jan

Jan, it reminds me of an old photo portrait. I think the very things compositionally that made it less than what you had hoped are actually the things that give it a unique and charming character. I like it :)
