That is really lovely. I have a rosebush with this soft pink rose and it is one of my favorites. Lovely,

Nicely done, indeed!
Can you tell us a little more about Acrylic Inks?

09-22-2007, 12:10 PM
Very, very pretty Maureen. And I agree with Stacey that it has a watercolor feel to it. I like the way your handled both the hard and the soft edges.

lovely rose!
I agree it looks like a WC.

These inks do handle very much like w/c - with the exception that once dry, they're permanent! One has to live with the mistakes!!

Bill, there's a classroom I did a couple of years ago in the Acrylics Information Kiosk - the sub forum there ....... it will explain! The Brilliance of acrylic inks (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=285864) ...... that IK is very useful - lots of info and classroom threads :D

Many thanks for looking and commenting everyone :D

Maureen I am impressed. Your ink work is always so lovely. Similar and yet different from watercolours. You have made me feel guilty. I haven't even started mine yet *sigh*

Ooh, had to pop in and tell you how much I love your rose, Maureen!!!!
The pink is lovely - what colours did you use in the end?

09-25-2007, 12:04 PM
Nice! Beautiful colors, and I love the variety in the petals.

Thanks Carol, Margaret, Ruth and Nancy - I appreciate the comments!

Carol - time to get back to painting I think! You've been slacking too long!

Ruth - I find pinks in these inks (poetry! :D) much easier than with regular acrylics! The mars red, with touches of violet or cobalt blue works well then to heat it up a little, magenta nd yellow in small touches.

gorgeous rose, Maureen! did you work on HP or CP?

You're very kind Foz!

Actually this was done on Hahnnemuhle paper - it's a matt finish and quite hard surface, but I like it for inks.
I must get some HP paper though - mines all CP! (with a few pieces of rough!)

I have been busy haven't I? But then you know how busy I have been with the overhaul of the RIL.

Maureen, i thought i recognized the look of washes on a hard surface. i have yet to conquer HP with a brush. it's great for the spray technique but put brushes to this stuff and it's another matter all together.

Beautiful painting. Really looks like a watercolour.

A delicately painted rose.

Kind regards,

If the ac inks are permanent can you paint over them if you do make a mistake? It does have a w/c look to it. Very pretty.

Marcia - thanks for bringing this back to the surface- I missed 'thank yous' to Carol, Billie, Shaz and Eggy - so a big apology for that , and a belated thank you :) :o

You can overlay with the inks in the hope that a mistake can be corrected - can use white, which is opaque .. but it takes lots of layers!
On the other hand, sometimes this results in really nice colour effects!

What a lovely rose, Maureen, that I'm just now seeing. It is delicate as roses are, just the color of some I planted last year.

This is just beautiful!

Maureen, you have been hiding this rose from us!! :D Beautiful! My mother would have loved the colors!

Oldie perhaps but an extreme goodie. And I'm very glad I didn't miss it this time, love the light and the touch, just gorgeous.
