View Full Version : House commission piece

Here's one I just finished. 11x14 wrapped canvas. I haven't done a commission before. I was kind of nervous toward the end, afraid after all the work I'd do something horrible to it. I'm looking forward to getting back to a "normal" landscape. :) There's more color in the whites than can be distiguished in the photo.
I used burnt umber, burnt sienna, ultramarine blue, pthalo blue, cad red, alizarin red, cad yellow, yellow oxide, and titanium white.

Thanks so much! I was more happy to be done with the windows than the stones. I was just glad to get done with the house and enjoy the greens.

That looks great Linda. Very realistic. I'm amazed by the detail of all the stones. I always find buildings a little intimidating because it is so hard to make a straight line with acrylics.
09-20-2007, 03:27 PM
Thanks, Michele. Straight line is why I normally don't do buildings. :)
The stones were actually not hard as I thought. I gave the impression of brick by using a flat brush to texturize over the base color. Then I built it up with a small round, using little strokes. I went over it about 4 times with different colors. Then I loosely outlined random areas. Never a complete outline...just little dashes. Finally, I glazed in some shadow areas.

Thanks Clem and Sue. I'll probably be doing this house in the different seasons. This, of course, was "summer".
