   I am so glad to see a botanical section.

Here is a study on a purple iris, I have painted this before with a background but I wanted to do a series of just botanical flowers.

It is done on hot pressed paper, winsor newton paints.
All comments welcome.

These are just gorgeous! You've captured that delicate, tissue thin look - especially on the bud. I like them very much.

Awesome! But then again I may be slightly biased as the iris is one of my favorites. No, biased or not, you really did a fantastic job with the colors and textures.

Thanks Gail and Dan for your comments. I just love then as well, there are so many different varieties and colours. Which to paint first is the hard parts.

Absolutely gorgeous, Sandy. I really like the flower, but the translucency of the layers in the bud as they beginning to unfurl is exquisite.

Absolutely gorgeous Sandy. I love your colors, values and sensitivity. I would like to see this with slightly larger margins and maybe the taller format that is so popular with botanical work. Very impressive.
