Hi, this is my first time posting on this new forum. I would like to know what you think of this acrylic painting. It is an 11x14 on heavy drawing paper (I can't remember what kind of paper I used, since I usually paint on canvas)

It's a nice compostition and pretty colors Lois. The only thing that bothers me are the support "ropes" They would be straight and would wrap around the top of the pot IRL... as it is they make the pot seem like it's floating! Magic, eh? Good job.

Lois, I agree with Laura about the ropes. I particularly noticed that because I received a critique about the ropes in my own post in the florals forum.
The colors and flowers are very well executed, but I would like to see maybe one more flower facing to the rear, not real defined, but just enough that we know it is there, maybe peeping behind one of the leaves. Still a beautiful painting though.

Thank you all for your kind words and your observations about the ropes. I never really thought about the fact that they should be straight with the heavy pot pulling on them....and the rope going around the pot was just an oversight. Thanks for pointing that out!

Welcome to the forum Lois!
Pretty pot of posies! I like the colours and the dark bk/gd .. the only bit that confuses me is the colour under/around the pot - I think if it was darker than the pot, same colour, it would be less confusing (well, for me!!!) :D

Hello, Maureen. The color around the pot on the wall is meant to be a shadow and a bit of reflected light...but I can see what you are talking about. The shadow should have been darker, with a little less color.
Thanks for your observation and comments.
