this one is an abstract based on flowers so don't know if it will appeal to members of this forum.
I work observationally, looking at flowers (and other subjects) and then abstract from them. This one has elements of poppies and hedgerows and Queen Anne's lace - but isn't directly a picture of any of them. It's about Autumn and that tracery of shapes that you see in hedgerows (close up).
any comments, feedback or crit?

Vivien,
Although I don't paint abstracts, I enjoy ones that appeal to me often for reasons I don't even understand.
I can see flowers in this abstract, you've captured the "essence" of their appeal.
I really like the red with the whites and blacks in the center of the forms.

It's a kind of 'any way up' painting Vivien!
I like those sharp lines of the hedgerow - which we get in Autumn - and really feel there are exploding seed heads around.
Love the contrast in size of those lines too - the little escape to the wider world is there with the blue 'sky' - and really like thos dashes of bright light adding to the explosive feeling.
Colour's good too - like the variety of reds showing through.
 :D

I think this is one of the nicest abstracts that I have seen in ages. It doesn't necessarily read as a flower but is definitely organic in nature. I am quite attracted to your use of colour and the shapes.

thanks Carol :) - yes, I didn't want it to read as specifically any one thing but hints of lots of floral/undergrowth stuff - it evolved from sketches and studies done over the years.

I know nothing at all about abstracts, but this one is very pretty!

I agree with Carol, I liked this abstract immediately. Everything about it's nice.
