This was painted en plein aire. I know that it is a still life, but would it also be considered a plein aire?

Beautiful work Cherie.
To me this style is very evocative of the 1920's.

I would certainly consider it a plein air---you don't see that kind of lighting indoors. It's beautiful.

Cherie, this is beautiful! And, in my view, anytime you're dealing with changing outdoor lighting conditions, that's plein air. So, a portrait, a still life, a human figure, or more ordinarily a landscape-- all can be plein air. This is the right forum for this piece! :)

When painted outside in the open air....or from a lighted window...its plein air to me! I love your subject and the lighting is great. This gives me some ideas about painting on my deck when its too hot for the gardens!

Cherie, This is a wonderful piece. Clean colors- vibrant and alive.
En plein air literally translates to "in the open air", so it doesn't matter "what" you paint, as long as it's in the outdoors.

So, it is a plein aire. Great!
I have been thinking about toning down the bright background. Can't make up my mind......what do you think?
