I have been teaching a painting workshop at a nearby college. The workshop is non credited. The course is just about complete only a few more sessions. The over all total amount of sessions was about eight classes. This may be a silly question, but I havent thought about it untill now at the last moments. Should I provide each student with a certificate at the final class. I mean is it expected or required as common knowledge, or would it be just a gesture strictly from me. I mean will students expect something like a certificate or no, any comments?
Thank you
Hank

I've taken a few classes like yours and never recieved or wanted another certificate. I'd just thank everybody for attending and go home.

Hi,
I teach a seven-week class for a Community College. Students don't get or expect a certificate. The only time I have ever received a certificate is when I took workshops with world renowned artists.

Is it customary at the college where you're teaching? If not, then it seems it's up to you to decide. I personally think it would be a nice touch if you don't have to go to a lot of trouble and expense.

I have attended several classes and have asked for certificates and been provided with them on each occasion. If people want a certificate they will ask for one.
