I love painting flowers. In fact my first painting was a rose. I usually hang out in the pastel forum. In fact I work with pastels. I wanted to paint in the watercolors too. It would be really great if the masters could gives us newbies some tips and techniques to get started in painting florals in watercolors.
I think its a great forum and you can sign me in as a very frequent visitor.

I'm sure we'd all love to see some of your Pastel Florals -- I know I would. I hope you can post one or more for us to enjoy.

Hi Pal, I'm sure as the forum becomes established there'll be lots of WIP's to follow, in the meantime I recommend looking in the Learning Zone of the watercolor forum for some excellent lessons, in particular CharM's macro floral lesson :)

For more, look through this thread. (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=310721)

This is first painting. Before I had made two apples just to get the feel of this medium. I hope you all like it:) .You might see some reflection on the upper left hand corner, that because I had taken this photo after this painting was framed.
Ruth thanks for the link.its awesome. I think it will do for the meantime. I just wish this forum grows so that we all can interact and learn.

Very nice. I can see the pastel artist here. Not at all what I expect for a first floral. Nice values and control, and the movement is pleasing.

Did you do thin washes and build up, or did you paint in one or two layers? What size brushes did you use?

It looks like it was painted by an advanced watercolorist. Very nice, Pal. You have a gift and it is good to see you growing. You should hang out a bit in the Watercolor section.

It doesn't look like you are going to need much help at all. Your rose painting is lovely and great job on the water drops. Wish I could paint as well. :)
