This colored pencil, 11 x 14, from a photo taken in New Mexico while we lived there. We went then to Texas and now to Arizona.

Wow! I've never tried colored pencil, but seeing it used with such wonderful skill makes want to try it! You've done a beautiful job!

You did an excellent job of conveying the horse as aged without getting to caught up in the details. I love the way he sort of blends into the background as though he's just sort of fading away.

This is a beautiful piece... I love the predominant white throughout. From it I get the sense of strong sun and bleached out landscape (positive thing). Although the values are close, you've done a wonderful job of keeping this very alive and interesting!

Beautiful horse. He appears happy to be free to do what he wants to do instead of having to work.

Thanks everyone, for your comments.
About the values-that was a challenge to keep the feeling of intense summer sun and still get enough color in there. The piece itself has more range, but this is really close.

This wonderful piece reminds me of a Michael Martin Murphy song, but I cannot remember which one, but the general theme was about not forgetting a old friend. He would not let the old horse be sold off for glue, instead he was going to take it to a pasture where he could let it live out it's life in piece and in all the sweet grass. This is a ghost of a horse, maybe that is the impresssion I got when I saw it. It is among my favorite pieces...It pleaseth thine eyes.

This is a wonderfully done drawing. Your work is very soft and pleasing. I use colored pencils as well, but I have only drawn a horse in the very first cp piece that I did a couple of years ago. I admire anyone who can do such a lovely job on drawing horses. Also, a very good job of using color to create a white horse!
