This is a painting I finished the other day. It is painted in watercolor on 140 lb. Arches cold-pressed paper, 8.15" x 11.5", all artist grade paints. Layer after layer of glazing to bring out the intense shades of orange in the flower.

a real beauty :)

was the centre really that pale? a green would zing against the petals and the centres of mine are pale minty green,

Thanks, Vhere, I'm glad you like it too. I have the reference image I used right here on my desk and the center is that pale, creamy white with a velvety reddish-purple on top. I bet yours are beautiful with the green in the center.

Thank you for the kind comments Mikki, Carol, and Dan. I enjoyed painting this and adding more and more colors and blending them to form the layers of petals. :D
