Tulips seem so sturdy and yet so delicate in coloring and you have captured them perfectly! Even the glass of the vase is well done. Way to go!

Thanks for posting again Pat - The way these sit in the vase is beautiful - well observed all round.
Love the richness of the colour and the fine workmanship - (I find OPs difficult!) Particularly like the dark centres - super depth!.

Wow - what a combination of media! Do you have any tips for people working in this way?

Lovely treatment of the tulips BTW.

Katherine T, I'm not sure what you meant by combination of media. I only used oil pastel.

Sorry - media for me includes the support as well. It was the combination of oil pastel and colourfix and clayboard that I've never come across before.

Thanks, I see what you mean. I used smooth clayboard which is a board coated with white clay. It can be used for many media, but I applied 2 coats of colorfix ground to it. This is the same ground that they use for the Colorfix paper. It gives a slightly sanded surface. I have used gessoed masonite with and oil glaze as an underpainting, but I find that the clayboard has a little more give to it.

Have you tried Ampersand Pastelbord? The reason for asking is that a friend of mine tried doing that with claybord (but using coloured pencil) and in the end switched to pastelbord and found it much easier - and a lot less work.

No, I haven't tried that yet, but will. Thanks for the tip.

Don't know how I missed this when first posted, but it is really lovely, and I like the green mixtures you used, also the slight touches of yellow on petal edges. I like it all.
