Okay, this will be a lively forum for sure! I came over here and could not bear seeing "No Posts" so here's one that took several awards a couple of years ago...

Miki -- I love how you've captured the fresh colors in your leaves and the texture in your stones.
I think the Florals/Botanicals destination is going to be an exciting and popular destination.

Beautiful pastel, Mikki. I can see why it took many awards. Thanks also for pointing out this forum.
Okay, I'll be the second. Here is a piece I finished this spring. Oil pastel on clayboard w/colorfix ground.

Oh Pat - that's worthy of its own thread!
Please open one up so you can have the comments it deserves :D
Mikki - thanks for opening our show!
That's a lovely pastel - a real thorny piece! very subtle olouring too on the rocks - a perfect foil forthe leaf and stem colours ........ and I like the contrast of smooth bk/gd and spiky/thorny stems.

Pat, that is a stunning painting and definitely deserves it's own place. You handled those delicate petals so perfectly!
Thanks for the nice comments. I'm very excited about this forum because I love to paint plants and flowers but in their natural environment so they never really fit in the Still Life/Floral category.

Just had to come for another look. I love the way the shadows play across the rocks.

Thanks again for the supportive comments. I agree completely about how much fun it is to see all many of flora in one setting. And what a great bunch of artists already posting here!
