Hi everyone -
I want to generate a list of names of Wetcanvas members who are interested in doing a Rocky Mountain Park (area) "Get-a-way"..next year. (I will find out ASAP if next year is an option..many places book up VERY!! early). If you are interested, please leave your name here. I will print the list and hand it to Craig and Keeley (who just opened a new resort 1 1/2 miles from the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance.
NO confirmed dates yet, at this point I just want to see how many might be interested. I will shoot for 2001 and again, will have to work to confirm dates.
Thanks..I'm sure it would be great fun!
See the link below for my nephew's lodging facility..just opened this summer.
I'll be working on securing a group-rate discount..and perhaps even a recurring block of time yearly.

Michael: Put 2 names in the hat for me and my husband! We all had so much fun at the North Georgia Getaway 2000 until I can't wait to do it again. Thanks for putting this together for us.

Glad to see so many encouraging responses. Craig and Keeley are very busy, but I'll try to get up there this weekend (along with this list of all of you who are interested)...and begin to see what we can do..and when. There are quite a few other places to stay in and around Estes Park, but I think it would be great if we could all be at Evergreens. Will let you all know as soon as I can. Michael

Hi everyone - Just got an encouraging email from Craig. They have been VERY!! busy at Evergreens..a few "minor opening bugs" but things are running smoothly.
He and I will talk more about the "group" stay..he said it sounds interesting and fun. (I sure agree!!). Craig said "it would be difficult to do a group stay in the peak summer season, however in the off-season we can do groups much easier...and work with you on discounts and room availability".
So, I will try to just go ahead and see when would be best for Craig and Keeley (availability-wise) in the off season, and just suggest the best options here..and see how many of you we can "lock in" to a given time frame. It is difficult to include everyone, as everyone has different obligations, but we'll see ok?
I am hoping we can get as many of you together as possible. Michael

Michael: Don't laugh...but what are the months of "off season" in Colorado?

Llis...a good indication of the "peak" season is when the park service opens the Trail Ridge Highway that goes over the Rocky Mountain National Park.
I don't have the exact dates..but I will guess that peak season is June through September. But I will verify with Craig and Keeley ASAP.
It is actually quite beautiful up there all year around, but I want to shoot for time when the Park is still open (obviously) and a time when Trail Ridge Highway is still open also. (Trail Ridge HW goes up above the tree-line..with amazing vistas of peaks over 14,000 feet.
Will let everyone know about the times available (off-season) just as soon as I can.
Michael
Oh, by the way, Craig wants to place photos of the interriors of the cabins on his website before long. Trust me, they are beautiful, very, very cozy..with fireplaces...beautiful carpet..and full kitchens. So, I hope you can all imagine beautiful days and nights even though we may not be able to secure time in the summer. (It is very peaceful after the summer rush (and crowds diminish).

Hi, I just found this website today - and guess what? I live in Colorado Springs, so count me in too - I might have a few problems persuading hubby to look after the kids, but I definately deserve this, I've been promising myself a painting holiday for years!
Best wishes, Lynda

Hi Lynda and welcome to Wetcanvas!!
You're not to far away. My wife and I are in Fort Collins. Nice to see that you are interested also. I'll try to post more information here very soon. (Hope to see some of your work posted here at Wetcanvas also!) Michael

Thankyou Michael - I haven't been here long, just moved 6 months ago from England. If the GetAway is just for a weekend, I could probably bring the whole family with me and send them off fishing or something, so put me down for either 1 or 4!
best wishes, Lynda

From the sounds of it...the get together would probably fall during my school year of teaching art. Yet, if by some luck I'd have a three day weekend, or something..I might yet be able to hop a flight for a few days. Time will tell.
I might be trout fishing for two weeks the first part of August this year, in Montana. Of course, I would plan on bringing my easel and camera.
later,
Larry
