I love what you've done w/the hair and shirt! Can you tell me how you manage to get that shiney, soft effect? It's looking great to me!!

Thank you for looking Redshoes,
I guess the best exlanation that I can give is gradual layering of graphite, lightly blend with a stump until I get close to the values I want, then I have found that my favorite final blender is plain old toilet paper. I lightly rub the t/p over the area to soften everything, then I go in with a kneaded eraser and/or Blu-Tack to lift out the highlights. One more hit with the t/p to blur the highlight edges usually finishes it off.
Hope that helps.

Hi Todd,
Nice work! T/p seems to be a great tool :) The simpler, the better, ha? ;) I like your blending. The hair looks very realistic. Thanks for posting and sharing your technique (read: your are not boring, keep posting and sharing :) ).

Toilet paper is not just for the bathroom anymore!!
I have learned to keep the small last ends of toilet paper in my sketchbox to use just like you mentioned. Your drawings are wonderful. Bored, I am not. (I saw starwars!)

Thank you both for looking.

Thank you all for commenting. I'm afraid that I haven't been able to draw much the last couple of days. My son is graduating from grade school and we have been quite busy with end of school activities. Oh yeah, we are also trying to throw him a grad. party on Saturday afternoon, too.
Thanks for your patience!
Todd
