Well I searched for this and nothing came up. Actually, I think it's a new name for stuff people here have used before. Liquitex seems to like changing the names of things quite often. LOL!

Anyway, Liquitex Ultra Matte Gel.

Here is some info from Liquitex's site:

Heavy Body.
A translucent white gel of high density and high solids, that economically extends the volume of Heavy Body Artist Color without changing its heavy body.
Add up to 50% by volume, to double amount of paint and retain color position.
If more than 50% is added, it acts as a very weak tinting white.
Maintains the opacity of the color better than using a clear gel medium, but the color may lighten (higher value).
Dries to a matte finish, giving colors a matte sheen and gouache look.

Anyone here try this? Work as good as it sounds? Opinions?

Thanks,

James :)

Did some searching on Google and one website says it was formerly called Gelex.

And after that - Matte Opaque Gel Extender Medium.

And I found a reference to (supposedly a label)

High Viscosity Acrylic
Matte Opaque Extender
Gel Medium

But I think 2 products are getting mixed up here.

Anyway, let me know your opinions on it.

James :)

If this is what I think it is, it is an opaquing medium. I had done a sample of this a few years back and posted it here in WC. It is a rather fascinating material and can be quite useful. It does alter the feel of the paint and to some extent the way it handles. I find it feels a bit "gritty". It does make colors rather opaque and gives them a nice finish. Depends on your needs and desires. I find it drags a bit on the brush but for knife work it is amazing.

I must admit I haven't used it in a while.
