It kinda surprises me that there are no gourd artist or gourd art forums on here. At least I don't think there is. I belong to the Texas Gourd Art Society and I'm on the Rules and Bylaws board and a judge. Gourd art is really on the rise and I'm not talking about bird houses, santas and the such but really profound art work. I am sort of a beginner, I've been at it for about 10 years but I never got all that serious about it till I judged the Southwestern Gourd Art Festival last year. The art work there was unreal! The competition is really tough and I'd like to see a forum here someday on Gourd Art. Here are a few of mine.

I am starting one that will be a Medusa with the snakes around her pretty head and I hope a leather pirate type map under her head between the posts that hold her up. It should be fun and I will show progressives steps as I go along. I hope it will be OK to do that. I hope I haven't offended anyone with my earlier posts. I love art and I love to be around good artists like here on WC.

Thanks, I enjoy art so much and being able to chat with other artists is a real turn on. I had 60 pieces at the Museum with the One-Man Show and I've only shown a few but I don't want to put too many on here. That might not be koshire!

You're right, I do Native American and Southwestern art. Rarely do I get away from that genre. I'm fixin to do just that however with some Egyptian work and some mythology subjects. Why, I don't know but sometimes you look at a gourd and it talks to ya.
