Didn't wanta make you all suffer through 3 seperate threads, so here in order of year, is my first horrid 14yrs of age attempt at a bowl of fruit... Why your family always hangs your first "masterpiece" is beyond me... There are so many flaws in this, it makes me wince... anyway I have a waterfall somewhere that was attempt #2 lol (gotta find that and make up for it)

Horrid Fruit Mocking Me

Now onto my return to acrylics, 4yrs later as a college freshman...

Something for the Road?

And finally a study for an acrylic I did of my cousin... this looks nothing like her, but I was enjoying the feel of the washes... though I must confess, I have no idea what I am doing, I was treating the paint like watercolor, which it isn't...

Victoria(a study)

Thanks for looking...

Mmkay, Bobby. These at least approximate paintings with a focal point of some point. MY first canvas (year 2000) didn't. Take a gander for yerself...

This is what happens when you let a beginner near her first paint set without learning anything about color theory or composition. :cat:

I like your bottles, and the portrait doesn't look half bad.

Bobby.....the fruit in the basket is amazingly good for your first attempt at age 14.....isn't nice to look at that and see how far you've come

I absolutely love the booze bottles! The style of the painting is really captivating to me and I love the colors you've used

And Victoria....well you certainly have a way with highlights and shadows...marvelous painting, very dramatic!

first - they hang your stuff up because they love you and want to try to instill more confidence.

your bottles are great and the one of your cousin is very good (even if she might not look like your cousin :D )

at fourteen i wish i had been painting more and ----------------- less.

Yeah, I'm sure all of us have a piece or two on our parents' walls that we'd much rather have hidden away in a closet somewhere (I don't know what's more embarrassing--that or the baby bathtime photos!).

And I really like the bottles and the portrait. Great job! I love the colors!

Hey, this is fun... maybe I'll have to ask my parents if I can borrow one of my first paintings for a scan!
