View Full Version : Opinion(s) needed ASAP

I just did a painting as a wedding gift to my brother- getting married on Saturday- yes, 2 days away. Nothing like finishing everything at the last minute. I can't get a good pic of the painting itself b/c at the moment all i have is a cam that takes pics of the worst possible quality. BUT I want to post the reference pic- can you offer an opinion about the moon- in the upper left corner. To paint or not and if yes, should I make it bigger?
p.s the painting is about 12"x15"

Loose the moon. It really doesn't add anything to the landscape.
Funny I am painting a wedding present for Saturday too and I have left it to the last minute as well. Nothing like stress, eh?

Thanks Carol. I'm in a quandary over this one now b/c I feel i've made the landscape too small and the sky is overwhelming, particularly without the moon. AHHH. Eventually this 11th hour business was bound to backfire on me.

I agree. The moon's too small to be obviously a moon.

Id leave it out as well. No deadline here at the moment but I usually do put off till the last possible minute. Its not that I work better under the stress but more because I know that if I finish something a week or more in advance, then Im going to constantly be picking it apart mentallyand most likely redoing it at the last minute anyway

Yup...the concensus is correct Jesslyn:) Lose the moon. The rest of the ref of Gros Morne looks good.A bit dark for a wedding gift though.(Sorry, just an opinion...don't wanna add to your stress level)

I'm not gonna be much help at this point. I say keep the moon, and make it bigger.

What about zeroing in the photo with a viewfinder of some kind, and find an interesting part of the photo?

I thank you all for your valued opinions. I'm going to try it with the moon a tad bigger and if it doesn't work i'm painting the frigger out.
2 hours til departure time. No panic. No panic. Walmart's open every day right???

Shoot, I forgot in all the commotion to take a photo! I'll have to ask my sister-in-law to take one for me. The moon got the axe in the end and they seemed to really like the painting. I'll post it in another thread when I get a pic. Thanks again!
