View Full Version : OT - house book

I like to make books/jouranls/etc. My step daughter is having a house built for her and my wife and I are going to visit her in August in Texas. So, as a house-warming present, I made a book for her. She has taken photographs from when it was just a dirt lot through the entire construction! I thought it would make a great scrapbook for her.
Anyway, here are some pictures of the book I am going to give her - do you think it is an ok present? The "attic" is a triangle book with 60 pages and same with the house part - 60 pages but it is rectangular. The paper inside is 140 pound cold press Wasau watercolor paper that can be watercolored if she wants. It is about 11" wide and 18" tall to the triangular tip.
The front outside decoration on the book is one of those things you add to a doll house. I found a picture of her kitchen so I made it look as if one is looking into the houst at the kitchen. I tried to mke it as personal as possible as the real house has one of those on the front too.

Thats the sort of thing that would make me cry if someone did it for me.
She is a lucky girl!

That is truly awesome and so very thoughtful. Is she a scrapbooking person? It will be a really great keepsake and conversation piece to showcase her home building experience.

Oh, Rich...that is off the hook awesome! Great job. I seem to get to help all my friends decorate when they move and give them a journal (very generic...nuttin' special like yours) to keep all their paint chips, pics of rooms, measurements of walls, windows, fabric swatches etc in. They are great to take when shopping to match new stuff. How cool to have such a personal journal of your very own home...made by your Dad. Melts my heart.

I tried to make it personal as the kitchen picture is her real kitchen. I took the picture off her web site where she posted several shots of her new house during all the construction!
