This was almost completed yesterday afternoon at the Asian Gardens where I painted the Path to the Rhodies. I finished it this morning....I find that I have to go outside to work on these. Indoors just seems too dark! and too lifeless.

I find what you said about having to return to the outdoors as inside is too dark just what I needed, Carly!! I am struggling with something and I think that may solve my problem - it is not a plein aire but it just keeps getting darker and darker. I will go out in to the light with it. Artificial light doesn't seem to help with it either, so thank you very much for that gem!
Very nice planking on your bridge! Love it!!

tuatara...I was wondering if your palette is white or very light in color. Since I began using the wooden palette that came with my easel...I've noticed that I keep getting lighter with my colors. I'm sure it has something to do with painting acrylics so much and using a white palette for them. The oils seem much deeper and I keep adding white or mixing lighter colors to lighten them.
It's easier to judge the value too against the wood...since its a medium value.

Lovely, Carly! It's so ethereal...and of course you wanted to go outside; must be spring fever!

I use one of those dimpled plastic cutting boards as a palette for my acrylics - it is a cold off whitey grey white. They are so very easy to clean as the paint doesn't stick to the dimples. Yep, I think that is definately worth a try too - its so bad I'll try anything. LOL Thank you very much Carly for that. Hadn't thought of it but seems very logical to me.

Oh, I love this one! You really seem to have found your plein air voice, so to speak-- that's wonderful. It's also very encouraging to those of us still looking. :)

Beautiful!
Would love to see some progress photos on something like this if you're willing to take the time someday.
Enjoyed this one CHClements. Like the suggestive quality you present as the background. Yax
