My husband and I had the opportunity to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina about a year and a half ago. I took a tremendous amount of photos, which, due to school, have been kept in the darkness of my desk while I've had my nose in books. With the summer off, I decided to dig some of these up and see what treasures I really had.

C&C welcome!!!

Melissa,
There's is nothing to critique here;
excellent photos of this historic catastrophe.
I'm sure that many of us can only imagine the full impact of what you saw, but your photos surely touch on the chaos.
The quality of the photos is very good, may I ask what type of camera you used?
Thanks so much for sharing these.

It's hard to put into words what I saw there. The photos help paint a clearer picture but they too cannot truly capture the immense devastation and abandonment in the city.

I shot those photos with my Nikon D50 (which I had bought because I knew I was going on the trip…) I used the standard 18-55mm lens and a telephoto70-300mm lens for these photos.

Thanks for the feedback. I am glad you liked the photographs. :rolleyes:

Most of us who watched the footage day after day, knew that it was much bigger than what we were seeing.
Good choice of gear, it's what I would have taken ;)
but those are just the tools, you captured the experience.
I hope if you have more photos you'll post them.
