I'm going to occasionally post here links to artists whose work would be considered Alternative Media. This includes, but is not limited to, Performance Art, Video Art and Installation Artists. I am also asking that when you run across an artist that falls in the Alternative Media category to post a link here so we can explore more about the artists within this vast field.

This forum shouldn't be so much used as a debate forum, but if something these artists are doing finds you in the mood to debate it, please reference it in debates.

What is good for this forum is for all of us to explore what Alternative Media has to offer. It's also a good place to discuss Alternative Media artists that we've seen recently and what they did, how we engaged with their work and what we thought in general, in a non-debating manner... it's good that we keep some forums sacred http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

First up on my list is William Wegman.

The only thing i've to say at this time is that although i find some of his work in photography interesting, in a fun sort of way, i wouldn't mind seeing more of his paintings! I found those to be intriguing. After reading about how he starts a painting i begin to think that the canvas itself speaks to him. I wish there were more paintings on this site.

c..
you're welcome.

i saw some of his video work, and it's clever and interesting... he's very funny.

one piece i saw he had the camera on his belly - could not see his face - and he was making these noises with his mouth (that you can't see) but moving his belly as if the belly were making the noises (cuz sometimes a belly looks an awful lot like a mouth)... was absolutely brilliant.. no longer than 3 minutes or something... really really clever.

i hope you get a chance to see his stuff someday.

I'm sure the belly stuff is great. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif I recently had a friend over who has such talents and although totaly silly, it was very creative.
