View Full Version : FRIDAY - 6/8 I can't wait!

This bead I titled, "A Prayer for Africa". The AIDs epidemic is sweeping across Africa and so many of it's victoms are the children. I was really hoping to catch the anguish of a mother's heart but the hope in a prayer.

Now let's see yours...

Heidi, that is an amazing piece of sculpure. I love the emotion you've been able to capture. Well done!

06-08-2007, 12:01 AM
Wow thats real emotional Heidi...I think you nailed it. Great Job.

This is all the beads I have gathered with my fake Boro experiement. This is it for now, I will go back and revisit it at a later date, but I am getting a bit frustrated, so i need to leave it for a bit.

TGIF everyone

Thanks so much Lori and Diana!

I really like the look you've got there, Diana! They really are quite pretty! I think they're really getting there for that boro look.

Heidi, she really looks so very sad. You did a wonderful job in catching her emotions.

Diana - love the faux boro!!

Here are my two sets for this week. Liking the smaller sets, get to play with more colors. :)

(and just because I like this shot..not very descriptive but fun..)

Diana, Those look like Earth viewed from Space. Beautiful.

Sylvie, you snuck in on me. The details in your sets are fabulous...wonderful glass control. I love the colors in your second set especially.

After being such a thread hog yesterday, figured I better give some feedback to others here! I will be posting latest work tomorrow, as have those taken out of kiln this morning, and the 3 dozen now annealing!

Heidi - wonderful work - really a great sculpture. As a person with HIV, I thank my stars I live here and have access to medicines. I work with a small group of doctors and concerned people, preparing millions of dollars of HIV medicines (donated, or sadly from those who have died) for smuggling into Africa. Usually about 350 pounds of pills every 6 weeks (no bottles, just pills counted out in bags of 3 months supply), off to countries where they cannot be afforded or where even illegal due to some strange anti-western medicine laws. While not healthy enough to do the trip myself, at least I feel I am trying to help. So I really appreciate the thoughts and feelings that went into the creation of your work!

Dianna - love that style of bead. Made one similar tonight and just hope the colors will be as wonderful as yours!

Sylvie - great colors! That style of bead is definitely on my to do list! Have gotten much better at controlling dot stacking, but my raking is still pretty shaky!

Juls - the beach sets are wonderful! Casual elegance! Immediately makes one feel carefree!

Anastasia - you constantly amaze me with your variety of work, artistic quality, craftsmanship! I may seriously become a Buhdist just to try to be reincarnated as you some day! In the meantime will reamian in awe!

Well, time to get some sleep. An early night, only 1 AM. Was torching till 5 AM last night, and started again at noon today. But my three week beading marathon is now over! - Michael

Heidi - you made me cry. Her emotion is raw.
Diana - you're smart to walk away and come back later; although it looks to me like you've perfected the fake boro technique. Nicely done.
Sylvie - so precise, beautiful
Juls - I can feel the sand between my toes just looking at your beads!
Ana - your "green" looks like the deep, rich moss you see in the woods
Shelly - beautifully shaped crosses
Janie - your "happy" beads make me just that - HAPPY!

Good Morning everyone. I wish I could comment on everyones beads, individually, but I can't remember seeing so much detail. You guys have the patience of a saint. I am off and running with hubby but here's what came out of the kiln from yesterday.

Hey, don't fall off your seats, yes, those are sets of beads you see from me. I am calling them TOG sets. I figure each one I sell will put a TANK OF GAS in my little Scion XB which only hold about 10 gallons. :D :D

Ginny, I LOVE Those colors together. They are divine! Thank you for sharing them!!

06-08-2007, 05:05 PM
Pinar, holy cow! Is that raku...terra? It's gorgeous! Colors are awesome.
Thanks, Ginny! Is that really the glass color or your name for it? Cause that is some awesome color combo that you have going on there! I really dig it!

06-08-2007, 06:33 PM
End results of my beading marathon - but first some words of admiration for the stunning work of today!

Michelle - very charming crosses - I know many people who would love one!
Janie - What a wonderful, cheerful set!!!
Annie - truly a work of art - wonderful colors
Dilly - I am envious - I hae tried this style, and so far have only achieved amoeba looking specimens
Lydia - really wonderful works of art
Grace - love the depth of these beads
Val - beatuful glass sculpturing!
Pinarhakim - I really like that combination of colors with the designs and shapes
Ginny - again, what an eye for color combination!

Now my meager offerings:
First a set that will be made into necklace and earrings yet today.
Some silver wire focals - just started playing with fine silver this week
One of my favorite beads to make, although they take a long time and get huge. Alternate about 8 layers of colors and clears for depth effects

some knobby earring beads
Reviewing boards here, discovered the tinfoil collar for hothead reduction and tried it. GREAT! But also discovered that beads then next to these in the kiln got fumed or reduced! Evidenced by the bottom two beads that changed!
And finally end of day beads, using up the little bits of glass littering my work surface!
That's all for at least a few day! - Michael

06-08-2007, 07:44 PM

Thank you for the kind compliments, Diana and Michael!

06-10-2007, 12:12 PM
Thanks, Ginny! Is that really the glass color or your name for it?

It's just a name I came up with . . .. the colors I used are coral, dk yellow and Vetrofond ochre green. I think it might be one of those odd colors.
