It has been a while since I posted here, but I recently picked up my watercolors again after getting a wonderful new sketchbook with fabulous paper for my birthday. I forgot to put in the sky.

Hi, here is another sketch from my sketchbook.

I used a reference photo from the Internet so I'm not sure if I should post it, but here is my little sketch.

Thanks for looking!

Hi Donna,

I like your sketch. I began painting in oils, then went to watercolors, which I love best. But I have a hard time painting loose like your sketch. In fact, I probably don't paint loose at all, but still trying.

I haven't posted in the watercolor forum lately, have been lurking around in Murals Forum, but I see now that I need to keep coming back here also.

Hi Donna, nice sketches. As they are finished I'll move them to the Plus gallery.

Donna,
Very refreshing, lively sketches. Effective perspective without it being strict or exact.

Nice work. Who needs a sky anyway - I usually just paint mine blue 'cos I can't do anything else.....

Donna,
I'm glad you've returned to watercolors! Your sketch is very well done. I agree with Jen about the perspective working well without being too strictly followed.

Thanks again everyone!

Johnnie, to answer your question (or not answer your question, rather) about my sketch book & its paper: I have no idea. It doesn't have a brand name or anything. A friend gave it to me for my birthday in February. The paper is fabulous and makes all the different in the world. It has an "old school" look to it: just a piece of distressed red leather that wraps around the paper, and the closure is a simple piece of string that wraps around the book. It was quite a lovely gift.

It looks like the red journal on the right in this photo that I found on the Internet.

With wonderful sketching like that you should be able to travel lighter- just throw the camera away.
