Hi, I am a new member and this is my first post and just had to jump in to say you did a wonderful job. Would love to hear more comments on works submitted as far as palette and papers used etc. I am learning and get so excited and inspired every time I visit. I live outside of the US right now with my husbands job and finding this site was a real blessing. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to see others you have done. Did you work on a solid black background and did you paint it black. Like I said I am a real newbie and have lots of questions so bear with me. :D

Mike, thank you as well. You have been one of my faithful supporters from when I joined and I thank you!
Matt, thank you for your flattery! I am so pleased you view it as such-it is my goal and your comment makes me feel like Im getting there!
Sd, the colour is what attracts me to these birds. So amazing to find such intensity in nature!!
Lenore, Welcome!!! WC is a wonderful place to grow in! Lots of support and lots to learn!! Hope you enjoy your stay here..:)
As far as this particular painting, I used a LOT of colours! Some you dont see outright as they are the undercoats but for the top coats I used, Brilliant Blue and Cad yellow med-both Liquitex and Green Gold by golden. I also do a lot of glazing..
:) The background is a real mix again. Basically started with Hookers green and paynes grey then applied glazes of green gold and brillian blue to compliment the bird. Feel free to PM me if you would like more info. I would be more then happy to supply it.
Cathy, thank you. As I just said above, these are some of the colours I used for him. There are a lot of hidden colours that add to it but are not outright....email me if you want more info k?
Orchid, you make me smile...Thank you..:D
