Hi guys

What started out as a quick sketch developed a life of it's own. Thanks to Di Court for the reference piccy from the RL.

I hardly ever do primates, but I was fascinated by this baby being so ugly it's cute <g>

Soft pastels on colourfix paper, 14 x 21 cm.

C&C welcome!

Hi Ann! I'm looking at the Baby and at the Mother and I'm not sure who is the cutest!:D I think the expression you got on the Mothers Face is soooo good! You can see she is very protective of her little one! Great Job!

Thanks guys! :-)

I have to admit though that the colours are not right on the image - the camera I'm using seems to really LOVE the blues. The reds are close to real life, but the blues are MUCH stronger and brighter on the digital image than on the real painting. I try to tone the blues down in photoshop, but then it totally screws up the other colours <sigh>

I also "lied" about the support - I was pretty tired last night (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it <g>). It's not Colourfix - it's Canson Mi-Teintes paper, the smooth side, and a brick red colour.

I'm glad you feel I managed to achieve that "protective" look on the mother - almost called this one "Eyes Off my Baby!" :-)

Oh dear! Just had another look at the painting... isn't anybody going to point out that mum's nose is off centre!?!! LOL Gotta go fix that now.

Love the style you've painted this in, Ann, it's dynamic and spontaneous!
