Malarkay, here is the floorcloth. This picture showed the colors the best.

Details: size 4' x 4', support is cotton denim lightly gessoed, background is exterior latex house paint, design painted with craft and artist tube acrylics, sealed with exterior waterbased varnish. Design is my own made up as I worked.

I made a floorcloth in a group class a couple of months ago (won't spend that much money for a class again!). I decided to cut the edges into a free form shape (instructor wasn't keen on that either..lol) and I've found that the edges don't fray at all. This was done on some really heavyweight canvas. I liked the floorcloth a lot but decided I wouldn't tackle the 4x6 area rug that I thought I would! lol

At first glance, I thought your rug was four different ones, msue! and I was thinking ...she must have loved making them floorcloths! lol...
Really nice, bright and cheerful pattern!
(I never did varnish mine!..please don't tell)

msue, this looks like it was a fun project. I have never made a floor covering before.
Does it hold up well to traffic?
I like the blocks and the fruit that you painted. It portrays the seasons to me http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif This would look well in my kitchen.

Sassy, don't know if it will hold up to traffic or not. It is rolled up and stuck in a corner of the spare bedroom I use as a studio. It doesn't match my decor and I have no place to put it. I've since done another floor cloth that is intended for my entry way, but I still need to varnish it (some day). Even without being varnished this new floor cloth has been walked over twice (by accident) and it didn't show.
