I did this one for a challenge in another forum. I painted it with the conte brush. In Painter 8. Haven't used that brush before, but it gave me the texture I was looking for. But I don't think it shows up as well posted at a small res. I painted at high resolution 300, and printed it out 8x10 and it looks fine, what I wanted. This isn't my usual style, but nice to try different things.

Good work! I love all the subdivisions on the left hand side of the painting.

Lucy, we all need to stretch at times! This is very pleasing! I like it very much! :)
looks pretty good to me Lucy. Nice use of texture on the left wall. the face is great also. But, you might ant to take a look at the upper lip. It looks a bit sparse to me. But hey, What do I know.
And, breaking out of our usual comfort zone makes us grow. Do more like this.

Thanks all for the comments on this one.. and Chuck in the ref. picture the girls upper lip was sparse. In fact I didn't care for the lips anyways. the bottom either, but i just went by what I saw. :)

This turned out nice the only thing that bothers me or keeps pulling my eye is the chair and the dresser are basically the same color which is throwing off the perspective when I look at it perhaps darkening the chair would seperate the two.
