View Full Version : IAPS - Bluefish Sighting??

Well, it was brief, but I noticed this kind of rough looking guy in the lobby on Friday, and having an orange shirt on, I figured I needed to get a closer look - and yep, his badge said "Bluefish", but his name was all blurry. I think he said he spilled something on it. Likely story, but I get the feeling he doesn't want anyone to know who he is. He liked the WetCanvas sticker, so I peeled one off, and put it on his badge. I kept asking him who he was, and he would never tell me. I've PM'd him many times, but he always avoids giving me his name. He has never showed me any of his work, even though I have asked him many times. Crap...I loved introducing myself to everyone, so I don't know what that was all about!

So I asked him if he wanted to grab a bite to eat...he said sure, but I told him I needed to get rid of some stuff, so up to my room we went. What I really wanted was my camera, which was in my room.

It was really wierd, because when he saw what I was up to, he kept avoiding my attemps at getting a good photo. He got kind of angry at me, and we never did go to dinner. I never saw him the rest of the convention...go figure!!

Some of you will think I'm kidding with you, and some will probably be angry, but I really do believe that someday Bluefish will let us know who he is. Like Deborah says...all we would finally want to know, is who we are chatting with. Did I really meet this guy? - maybe, maybe not. Did bluefish put me up to this? Well...maybe, maybe not.:D

Here are the few photos I took. Enjoy the mystery, because he seems to want to remain anonymous.

Being a fisherman, I know that in order to catch a bluefish you have to use the right bait! and ..ah... 'chum' of coarse. Get some shinners, a Hopkins minnow or a baby eel. I would 'chum' with some high dollar scotch or bourbon maybe some liver pate'
That would reel 'um in.....   glad to see you guys had fun!!!!

nana b

"dum-da-dee" is like a sing-songie tune that says, in this case, that I'm way too cool to care about such a thing:cool:......:D

He is not in New York.

I wanted to meet you too! I kept on asking if anyone had seen you and everyone would say "Yes" - and you were as allusive as Bluefish!

Bluefish is not in New York? Davvvv-vid!!!!

Kat, allusive as bluefish? Uh-uh, a lot of people saw me! But I wasn't staying at the Hyatt so I was back in Old Town a lot of the time, not lurking around like bluefish! Kat, now I quess we will have to wait till 2009 to meet each other:(. And I missed others too:crying:. Overs!

okay, okay...that's me in those pics. I was just having fun with all of you. I've never met "bluefish", and have no idea what he/she looks like, or where the mystery person lives. So there...I'll put it to bed. Like where I'm going right now!

Everyone have a wonderful and creative weekend!

David

PS - I love this WetCanvas family!

 Hugs to you David. Thanks for keeping Bluefish a mystery for me. Sorry Deborah, I know it's really eating you, but we are having so much fun speculating. I bet he even had a nice conversation with you at the convention and you don't even know it.

Bluefish, how many people from WC did you actually talk with while you were at the convention, besides your partner in crime-David? How about dropping some hints about workshops you attended.

If anyone wants to chum for a Bluefish, just offer him a nice set of Terry Ludwigs! Everyone has a price:lol:

I thought that looked a bit like you David! You devil you!

Let Bluefish remain unknown. Anyone who won't share their art with us isn't worth wasting time upon. This forum isn't about "mysteries", but it is about sharing pastel painting. Enough with the childish game, and on with sharing art. :)

I concur with you 100%, Peggy! It's about sharing methods, materials, products and helping each other - I have tied to pass on many years of trial and tribulations so that future 'pastelist' may gain from these experiences - yes, I get on the vendors, but always with the aim to get them to produce a better product for all of us!

We can't go through life without a 'chuckle' or two and hopefully the 'bluefish' character brings a smile to some faces that ocassionally need a smile - :)

that's what 'bluefish' is all about!...............'bluefish:angel: '

Let Bluefish remain unknown...
Well, now I know who to suspect of being bluefish. Trying to throw us off, eh, Peggy? :D

I think if I ever were to go to an IAPS convention, I would show up in orange shirt and blue socks!
(Nope, I'm not bluefish!)

This thread has provided some good chuckles. Thanks David and everyone (and bluefish, whoever you are...)

Great Idea!!! We can all wear orange and blue:D ...

I didn't think of that, Nana! But that would be really funny! I can see it now: a small army of artists dressed in orange and blue, descending on IAPS... The bluefish hunters would be really confused!

:lol::lol::lol:
