Hello fellow Dustbuster's,

I have just finished my latest painting, 'Purple Kimono, in the Light'. I have toyed with painting this image for some time now, but I felt the time was right, and thoroughly enjoyed painting it.

It was interesting caching the light on the kimono and working the shadows into the wooden slats.

Gorgeous colours, great light. You knew that right!
Just one thing annoying. The edges of the floor slats seem a bit soft to me. Even the shadow could be a bit darker. Huoh! there really should be a smilie here indicating the "trying to point out something in order to be helpful"

Beautiful...just the way it is. I wouldn't make any of the lines sharper because it will detract from the gorgeous figure. There could be too much going on here but you handled it beautifully...the figure is the focal point, just as it should be. Fabulous colors...the fabric is done wonderfully...rich and soft. Terrific shadows.

Absolutely stunning peice of work John, i agree with Dark Shades, about tweaking the sole of her foot. I love the colour of her kimino, and the light and shade looks fantastic. Well done.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments and encouragement,

I have tweaked the sole of the foot and the painting is now behind glass. :) (thank you for your observations)

I have mounted it in a double mount of ivory mat and had it put into a black lacquer frame, it looks stunning framed and on the wall.

I hope it will sell at my next exhibition at the end of this month.

kindest regards

John
