Erin - my yard is entirely concrete - I am NOT going to mow ever again! I live on 1/3 acre too. My wife and I do gardening in pots, placed all around the yard. These pix were close-ups of some of the hundreds of blooming flowers in them. I'll have to change lenses and take wide shots instead of close-ups for you guys. I sure am glad you guys liked the pictures as Mother nature is beautiful I feel.

Rich - Gorgeous flowers. That's the kind of yard I need...no mowing. Hopefully later in the year, I'll have some pics to share...DBF planted 150 exotic lillies last year. Lookin' forward to their show.
Thanks - Samma

Thank you Rich. I am looking forward to seeing your container garden.

If you have any tips on how to get plants to live in the heat of the south in containers my decks would love you.

Shari - have you ever investigated something called an "Earth Box"? It's a self-contained planter box with its own watering, fertilizing and weed-control system. I have two of them. A couple of years ago, I had the most amazing Asian pepper collection growing in these things. Now, I'm trying Dahlias.

Beautiful Rih I can't grow anything but cacti. My son and DH though grow some wonderful things. (I am not allowed to touch them LOL!) Tried to be nice and replant a spider plant my son had in his room it died soon after and I did exactly what they do. MY son said I got my kooties on it HAHAHA!

Wonderful Rich. I love it you have more plants in pots than I have in my hole yard.
I will try that earth box. problem is we have only have shade when the house or garage blocks the sun so everything must be heat tolerant and full sun. Thanks for the tip.

I have to give my wife ALL the credit execpt for 1 pot. She has an "eye" for stuff like this. I planted 1 Geramium out of all the pots. I put in the dirt and she chose the plants then I dollyed them around the yard where she wanted them placed.

We has an unusual freez and we lost 60% of the plants! The yard is finally back to its' glory thanks to her.

Rich, what a great "yard" you have. Please tell your wife she put a big smile on my face this morning. My favs are the purple flowers and the handmade cart behind the fence partition. I bet that hammock gets a lot of use. Only one thing I would add--a kiddie pool to dunk my toes in-LOL obsessionwoman

Would that do?

I love all the pretty yard pictures, I suffer from a dead thumb. I kill plants. So we just have grass. The photos are a great color inspiration. I don't have any yard pics so I'm including a pic of a little "friend" that found his way into my home. I waited till we got him outside to photo.

Rich,
If it's ok to use for inspiration for beadmaking, would it also be ok for inspiration to paint a painting?

Carol - I couldn't agree with more! What a wonderful thing to post. Do you paint too? I'd LOVE to see your work if you do!

I dream in color. Some of my best work has been made at night when I am asleep, then when I awake, I go out and torch and try to duplicate my dreams. Things I see throughout the day register in my brain somewhere and I dream about these inspirations and turn them into glass pieces.

Wow, maybe I need to see a therapist?...lol

Well, you can come garden for me anytime! Lovely flowers! My thumbs so brown I can't even grow things in pots:(

And if you torch from your dreams, I think that's how you know your obsessed with a passion (in a good way:) ).

Rich, you have a gorgeous yard of potted plants! Big kudos to your wife for all her hard work!!!! and if you need therapy, I'm a therapist, lol. But I don't think there is anything weird about dreaming in color at all, I do it too =) Thanks for sharing all those awesome pictures!!!

Rich,
Yes, I paint, too. I've brought all my oil paints upstairs and I'm to start painting a dream my sister has wanted me to paint for her. I brought up two canvases, one for her and one to paint for me simultaneously. When I saw your flowers, I thought of painting them. I'll have to show you a painting that I painted right before I even thought of making beads, and it looks like a big glass container full of colorful glass rods. It's called "Jubilee". I'll need to get a pic with my new camera :)
I don't dream much anymore and that is probably why I need a therapist!
