So sorry Helen - we have family pics like this, so I was 'drawn' to it - pardon the pun ....... but I'm so out of practice, I've aged you I'm afraid!!!
Sketch book, 2B pencil, drawing approx 8" x 5" - in a frustrating hour!
Heading for the Stinkers now :D

You're being to hard on yourself, you haven't aged me that much... I recognize me and I like the way you handled the bench and background

It's CUTE! YOu are so hard on yourself. The dress and legs are so well done. No stinker here.

She's recognizable for sure, and I love her "standing still for the camera" pose!

Me too! It's especially difficult when the child has to 'look at the camera and smile'..whilst protecting her eyes from the glare of the sun!:wink2: Your drawing is good!

Aww she's still cute anyways :) Maybe if her eyes were lower and closer together and the nose a wee bit narrower she'd look younger? It's something I was struggling with in this week's Drawing/Sketching weekly project.
Thats a great sketch of Helen, Nice Job!!

You ARE being too hard on yourself. It's got a nice simple, kinda "old fashioned" feel to it.

It's sweet. I like how you've catured the "little girl dress" with so few lines! I remember wearing those myself -- and feeling pretty!

EP - I think maybe you hit the nail on the head - thank you!
I'm hopeless at drawing children - don't work at it enough - so this was my challenge :D ....... If I have time, might even do a spot of erasing :D

Poor Helen, she gave us a cute picture and what did we do with it? I do like yours much better than mine and recognize that dress. I had one just like it.

I thought I was the only person afflicted with the insta-age touch. But strangely, the picture's very pretty in a quaint sort of way. And of course all the detail has been rendered wonderfully well.
