Call to Artists

The Montrose Visual Arts Guild is hosting its 16th Annual Art Exhibition and Sale, July 7 - 11, 2007, in Montrose, Colorado. Competition is open to all artists - we'd love to see your work.

Eligibility: Work must be original, not shown at previous MVAG shows. No work done in class or workshops accepted. Rulings on classification and eligibility are the responsibility of the Show Committee which reserves the right to refuse unsuitable entries.

Awards: Best in Show $500. Numerous additional awards totaling approximately $3200 to be awarded in the discretion of the Show Judge.

Judge: Virginia Blackstock of Hotchkiss, CO, holds signature membership in 10 national watercolor societies, work published in 6 art books, many awards.

Sales and Liability: All entries must be priced for sale and may not be removed before the close of the exhibit. The Guild will charge a 20% commission. MVAG will take reasonable precautions against damage and theft; however it assumes no further responsibility. Artists are responsible for their own insurance. Entering the show signifies agreement to these terms.

Fees: A total of four entires may be submitted. Members: $10 for first entry and $5 for each additional entry; Non-members: $10 for each entry. Cost to join MVAG is $25.00

Framing: Artwork must be framed and have wire for hanging. No exceptions. Final size of artwork, including frame may not exceed 12 square feet.

Deadlines: No Exceptions. Entry Deadline: All entries must be pre-registered by June 8, and each entry must have a fully completed label attached. Delivery of Entries: July 5 (2:00p.m. to 6:00p.m.). Pick Up: July 11 (Noon to 5p.m.)

Divisions: Oil/Acrylic; watermedia (under glass); graphics, pastel, sculpture (including wood, no furniture); mixed media and special division (limit one entry per artist) Souring High in the Valley.

Skill Levels: Sculpture and Special Division will include Professional and Nonprofessional; All other Divisions include Professional, Advanced, Amateur and Student (Grade 6-12) levels.
