View Full Version : The mast

I just joined this forum and wish to share a picture I did a few years back. This is a mast of an old wooden ship. I just love all details and aging materials. The picture is about 25x30 inches on paper. Thank you for any comments.

Thank you all for your kind words. When you live in a small country and do not get that much attention... you cannot really know if you are any good.
Thank you!
Ps. it is the ropes that drive me mad, keeping the rope tight and yet gettin all the threads right. Huoh!

Thanks Pirjo, that was a nice painting to do.

Beautiful pastel. Goes so well with the four watercolors you posted today. How do you find the time for all this detail with four children and two jobs? I'd be besides myself, I think.

I did find it necessary to start painting again when I inherited my ancient mother and new granddaughter at the same time. One needs a change in pace.

Just to add to what everyone has already said, what a great painting, hope to see more here.

I have always just had to take time to paint. It is my most valuable sort of therapy. You all know how it is.
My children are getting big now. The first one started in architectural university in 2002. And the youngest is already 13 too. But I really need to paint to take me away from worries at this time. My husband is serioustly ill with the worst kind of brain tumor. Has been for two years now.Doctors give him a couple of months, but I am determined to keep him alive no matter what. So if there is any among you to pray or send any kind of good energy, please do. I treat him with Reiki myself.
Sorry to go off topic like this, had a bit of a bad day. Thank you for your words so far.

Awesome work and the rigging must have been some challenge with all those details. Sending you whitelight for strength and healing for your hubby, you, and your family. It's good you have your painting to ease your mind.

Viuhti, I love the qualities of space and form in your work - truely admirable. Please show more.
The universe challenges us at times in ways that seems unfair.
Have faith that the outcome will be good, because it will be, even though that may be hard to see right now.
