Kind of lost this one butI had a good time .. found a little swamp edge and opposite it was a hillside full of trees. I started painting and a big Canada Goose swam in and honked up a storm .. trying to tell me to get out of her territory .. man, did she put up a fuss but then finally moved on around the corner and butt out.
I oversided the leaves as I only had my knife but I was more interested in the color than the shape anyway. Seemed the whole place was a piece of orange or dull drab grey except for a few little pieces of grass that were growing in the water and some moss on top of the old log. I lost the distance as I have my colors too close in value.

The color harmony is really nice-- with the bits of green beautifully setting off the oranges. Sounds like a good day!
It seems like there is always a story to tell on one of these outings. Now everytime you look at this painting you will think about that goose. Nice painting Wayne. Yax

Thanks Lisa & Yax ..
I can see how people become expressionist after making 2 paintings in the field .. it seems that one is engulfed in color and somehow to me, the color seems to dictate the order of events. I was going to scrape the canvas on the first few but I have decided that I am keeping all my pelin air paintings (Good or Bad) so I can judge how it affects my art because I can see it carrying over into the studio as well.

I like this one Wayne. I can feel the air moving in from the upper right. I like the way the sun is touching the wood and peeking behind the trees. This painting has a lot of atmosphere...I can feel the warmth, and the cold too from the cool muddy ground. I wouldn't worry about technicallities on this one. I can see the distance, and also the wildness of the terrain. You caught the moment and its beautiful! I'm glad you are keeping all your plein airs.

Really nice palette, Wayne.
It is so interesting to see what you all see over there. Our trees are not deciduous in the main so it is many many shades of green. We don't get the colour of the seasons like you have captured here. Its lovely. Would have liked to see the goose close up.:)

thanks Pa m & d_garden
It's nice when you get in the woods like that. The leves are only new so they are shades of yellow/green/red/orange and the whole atmosphere seems to take on a glow.
