View Full Version : Classical Art Journey: Summer Camp 2007

05-01-2007, 10:27 AM
Welcome to our art journey: summer camp!

I know this is different, this thread will be till September 2007.

We need a little time to break, but meet when we can.

Let me know if this is ok. If not we can do the weeklys.

Female at the beach by Sorolla. I don't remember the name but I like
the energy in this painting. I think I need to dip my toe in the big pond. :)

05-01-2007, 12:07 PM
 yeah ...summer camp...!!! i like how you can see the figures thru the clothing....and that water!!! what do we do in summer camp Nickel??? down here in florida,, we stay indoors with the a/c cranked:p ....tyree

05-01-2007, 12:42 PM
You had to ask............
Paint in the buff around here

I think we get to make our own rules.
I'm starting my camp by painting a mermaid :)

05-01-2007, 10:46 PM
Hehe, I didn't mean to make you run away.
It made it to 91 degrees today.
Strange weather.
I hope to spend more time painting.
So I'll have more to show.

Do we want to do any mini projects?

05-01-2007, 11:20 PM
hi nickel....its hot here too..naturally...hmmm...are we continuing this week drawings and talks in week 68 or is it happening in here?? i still like the idea you had of animal wildlife..classical approach and technique...i was going to run it by for the challenge...but mermaids is coolbeans too....but ...then i guess we could always go with painting in the buff... tyree :D :p

05-02-2007, 12:07 AM
Lol -

05-02-2007, 09:13 AM
Who's that giggling? :D Put your clothes on! :D

Vote here!

05-02-2007, 08:04 PM
hmmm...are we continuing this week drawings and talks in week 68 or is it happening in here??

Forgive me, I forget to express myself and sometimes, well, we need a little smilie that shakes it's head in wonderment at the oddities of Nickel. ;)

I should have asked first instead of jumping around like this.
I do this in real life, that is, I think others know what I am thinking.
That's not true either. lol

So what do you think is a summer camp where we post our studies, work,
etc, weekly as we did or as we do them a good idea in one thread for the summer or do we want to continue with weekly threads? If we want to do weekly, I'll just change the name of this thread. Cool beans! :)

I was trying to take the pressure off, not that anyone felt any I hope, but,
I do know how real life intercedes.

Maybe we should do more studies together of the same image?
I've found that helpful.

l like the idea you had of animal wildlife..classical approach and technique...i was going to run it by for the challenge...but mermaids is coolbeans too....but ...then i guess we could always go with painting in the buff... tyree :D :p

Lions are what I had in mind, then horses, we could do some minis.
I've never done lions or horses but I found some cool ones to study.

Want to see?

05-02-2007, 10:14 PM
:D hi nickel...and gang!!!! I think a summer camp.. continuous thread would be nice...and i like the idea of all doing the same pic...its always interesting to see someone elses rendition...im trying to draw a couple of horses now...jeez louise is it hard:p ...please do show some pics ms nickel...and start us on the summertime blues!!!! tyree   :D

05-03-2007, 09:20 AM
I concur - keep this thread all summer and lets do work on some one thing together - - pressure??? naww - this is summer - its laid back - lions/horses whatever - I would never have approached such unprompted - so post a picture Nickel, when you get around to it and we'll have a go

05-03-2007, 10:48 AM
Ok here's a mini challenge project

Do these three images, any media

first one: this is my absolute fav of the three

A pair of lions
Wikipedia Commons / The Yorck Project

A couple of lions (Löwen') painted by Paul Friedrich Meyerheim (1842-1915) in 1885. This oil painting on linen is part of the collection of the Heremitage in St. Petersburg.

05-03-2007, 10:50 AM
Paul Friederich Meyerheim

Born:1842, Berlin, Germany
Died:1915, Berlin, Germany

As the son of a painter, Paul Friedrich Meyerheim was educated in artistic techniques from an early age. His father Edward Meyerheim was his first teacher, and he went on to study at the Berlin Academy from 1857 to 1860. Unfortunately, despite the fact that he was a popular and well-known animalier artist in his own time, relatively little is known about his personal life today.

In his own work, Meyerheim was influenced by the French “Barbizon school” painters, and preferred to create landscape and wildlife images. Like many artists of his time, he sketched “from nature” at a relatively local level, visiting zoos and natural history museums to study the animal form. Meyerheim traveled extensively across Europe, teaching painting classes for a brief period in France. He returned to the Berlin Academy in 1887 to accept a professorial role wherein he would instruct the next generation of significant German animalier artists, including: Carl Rungius, Wilhelm Friese, and William Kuhnert.

05-03-2007, 10:54 AM

Meyerheim is in this photo, thought it was a cool photograph to share with

I like this painting by him too, I don't know the name but I am calling it this:
Girl in garden

A Lion by Rembrandt

from Wikipedia Commons

The Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn created his 'Reclining Lion' by pen and paint brush in ca. 1650. The work is part now of the collection of the Louvre in Paris. It was found in one of his many 'Kunst Boecken' (Art Books) full of drawings and studies. He made the drawings for the case that he needed animals in his paintings. There are several Rembrandt drawings of lions and this one is among the most beautiful

05-03-2007, 11:02 AM
You thought this was going to be easy, no pressure, sorry

"Humanity produced many paintings of lions in the den with Daniel. One of the most famous is the painting of Peter Paul Rubens named 'Daniel in the Lions' Den', on which he worked during the years 1613-1615. The painting is in the collection of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., USA."

05-03-2007, 11:22 AM

Hi !
I like the idea of a summer journey, it is less engaging than a weekly one ... I have never drawn lions ... I could give them a try ... but I like drawing horses very much and I have been working a lot on them recently!
I have a canvas at painting classes and some sketches I made for printmaking... all of them featuring Camargue horses!
Would these be all right to post when I finish them?

Have a great time making Art

05-04-2007, 04:21 PM
hi mony....sure..why not...and their at the post...run for the roses ...saturday...!!!!

05-04-2007, 07:27 PM
Rembrandt and Rubens know lions. That Meyerheim thing is Bert Lahr in Wizard of Oz.

Summer camp? Summer camp ye say???? Do you know how long it has been since I went to summer camp? 1955. No, wait a minute. 1949. Nope, wrong again. 1943? 1938? Yes, 1938, the year Hitler invaded Poland. That long. A long long time before you sat on that pony Miz Nickle. However, Tyree might have gone for her month at Wiki Watchi about that time.

05-04-2007, 08:36 PM
 i am a product of the sixties:D tyree:cool:

05-04-2007, 10:35 PM
I like your drawing Susan! They look sweet and like they could use an apple, two of them. Are you going to add any background at the top behind their ears? In the photo there is a dark green background that pushes the horses out. Think of Vermeer with his dark background. Which reminds me, I should see if I have that horse photo to show since everyone is doing horses.

Ok here is what to try, take the photo of your picture and change it to black and white only.

and here is the photo just in black and white, it's the only way I know to see
in a photo the darkest darks and the lightest lights. I hope this helps.

05-04-2007, 10:52 PM
I just looked and don't have the horse, that's not good, I'll have to find it. Hate it when I loose stuff, makes me think I'm as old as Luke.

Here is the mermaid all dressed up in black and white.

You see how I am able to see her to paint her?

None of this helps with the other eight values, but two I know where to put them.

05-04-2007, 11:42 PM
Before I forget, this works only if your trying to match the photograph or examine the picture.
If your just using the photo as a reference, then you get to decide
your darks and lights. Luke is pretty good at describing how to determine
light sources. I don't know exactly how to always get it right all the time.
I'm all the time trying for the high up and from the left light scence.

05-05-2007, 12:35 AM
my main concern...was trying to get it to look like two horses...:wink2: tyree:lol:

05-05-2007, 10:55 AM
Hey Susan, I see what you mean..:) yes they look like two horses
You did good !!!!!!!!!!!

05-05-2007, 01:01 PM
thanks nickel...lol...they are either not long enough or too wide...i am adding a dark bg to them to see if it helps...thank you for the idea of the black and white...i never think about using photo shop for a tool aid to do shadows and such:eek: ....will post later my results...dont know how much more abuse this 100 lb paper can take...i also want to get started on my lions....happy derby day!!!!! and get em jeff gordon!!!! tyree

Hi ladies.. I'm not used to change pictures to black and white... I try to do it automatically in my head ... but it can really be of some help! Tyree's horse are rather cute... and Nickel's mermaid is pretty too.. it's a lovely reference... only it seems to me that the proportions between the tail and the figure aren't quite right... perhaps it's only an impression of mine :did you check?...yesterday I made the trial aquatint print of this one at the printmaking workshop I attend in Como.. it is a very personal elaboration of a photo I saw in a nature magazine : two camargue stallions fighting .. next Saturday I'lll have the final print made ! This is the original sketch I had to
trace on the copper plate... had work but worth it ! I'm glad I had scanned and saved this drawing in my computer ... etching the drawing soiled and scratched it!

Please take a look at my Art Diary... I'm updating it!

05-06-2007, 04:48 PM
mony....powerful drawing...tyree:thumbsup:

05-06-2007, 04:55 PM
http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/06-May-2007/65063-lions_2.jpg started the two lions...with derwents and graphite...mistake...i just dont have the luck with the derwents...may do over with charcoal and pastel so i can get the drama with the painting:crying: tyree

05-07-2007, 06:23 PM
Mony I am glad you saved your drawing on the comp. It's interesting composition. You've done well. Please let us see more when you can.

Susan, I like the dark background on the horses. What do you think?
I hope you do like it to.

Your lion is majestic! I would like to see it if you do him again.
I've still got mine to do. Will try to start tonight.

05-07-2007, 11:24 PM
 hi gang...it was beautiful here today, not hot!!! great day for yard work....nickel...i think i will work on some horses that dont have all the harness...i cant get the structure of their faces right with it...but, yes i do prefer the bg dark to bring them out, rather than the trees that were there...irl..it looks much better than this scan...i also want to redo that lion,,,i just cant get the hang of those derwents...i dont know how Al does it...his work is so brilliant...will redo in pastel...tyree

05-08-2007, 12:10 AM
I've still not been able to find the painting of the horse I wanted to show. :(
I hope I've not lost it forever. Derwent should name a pencil after Al. He has a knack from what I've seen. I went and bought supplies tonight and saw a mouse running between the asile at the store. :) That was the extent of my nature experience today. :) Can't wait to see your pastel~!

05-08-2007, 09:04 AM
Hi ya'll and that includes St. Luke -

My daughters opening night exhibit went well ...Photos are what I wanted but I sat on the freeway inching 10 mph( with a straightdrive) and was so late they were getting in the car when I pulled in the drive, so I forgot to grab my camera.:(

The whole weekend was like that. Our family met at my sons to help him reroof his garage. There weren't enought hammers to go around so I shoveled the old crumbled shingles into the truck.

When my youngest daughter 10 yr started helping me she kept throwing shingle grit in my hair. She told me to take a break. So I did. While I sat working on this skelton my daughter that had the opening called quite distressed. A close friend had committed suicide. Her husband was at the scene & she was alone so I drove back to WinstonSalem to be with her.

Yesterday I did get some more prints on the first layer of a reduction cut..

Tyree - I think your drawing will shape up alot as you get into the background. It looks like a great start to me.

05-09-2007, 10:00 AM
Hi Azulparsnip, it's great to hear that your daughter's opening went well, but so sorry to hear about her friend. That's really sad. You are a good momma.
And your lion's bones look really good. I'll post mine later today. That's your angel drawing's print? I can't see the folds ;)

Ps I've finished the mermaid  well except for tiny details that won't ever get done :cat:

05-09-2007, 02:03 PM
Lol, that is the first layer of 5 or six colors - hopefully the folds will show up soon.

Can't wait to see your mermaid finished.

Tyree - that lion is good, I like the furriness. and the position of the head - regal.

Mony - that horsenibble print is wonderful, great movement and focal point is properly addressed it seems

05-09-2007, 04:10 PM
thanks everyone...for nice comments....azul...your print is shaping up nicely..cant wait to see the finish on this ...impressive bones too!!! my lion was okay until i added those derwents:( going to do it pastel..where i can blend better!!! tyree

05-09-2007, 05:49 PM
Here's the mermaid's head up close.
I liked her hair.

05-09-2007, 05:51 PM
About two hours, so not satisfied, proceed to the next post

05-09-2007, 05:53 PM
It's dark but
you really don't want to see it any clearer lol, really

05-09-2007, 05:54 PM
That big cat looks like a puppy dog. That was not the idea, right? ;)

05-09-2007, 07:32 PM

05-10-2007, 05:14 PM
Hi Susan, it's hot here! Thanks for the coments! Hi People!!!
I think I want (((((need)))) to study lions a little more before I paint a Dainel in the Lion's Den. It's shaping up to be a busy weekend. I love having holidays. I did do lion homework sort of today, bought a Lion Club broom. :)
Plus bought a snowball bush in the shape of a small tree. I'll have to wait till next year for blooms.

my art diary:

05-16-2007, 09:12 AM
Tyree, I am glad to see your work posted. That's great

Nickel, you are getting some good things done too.

Mony -lovely life drawing - I especially like the lower hand on the full tummy. :)

Maybe you thought I went back to Hawaii. (no, darn it). A stupid wild cat we have around here had a litter in the eaves and her kittens were falling out and getting devoured by flies. So I am dropper feeding a kitten every 3-4 hrs, and petting it and brushing it with a toothbrush prettending it is a mother's tongue. He gets his belly full, his bladder empty and purrs.

Hey, I just thought.....I should draw him. His eyes are still closed.

I did get to cut on the lino some last night.

Keep up the good work, ya'll.

Nickel, what kind of snakes were they?????

05-18-2007, 05:47 PM
What kind of snakes, I don't know, dead ones cause I don't like live ones.

This leave something to desire--------I never knew lions where so hard

05-18-2007, 07:11 PM
Whoa heah!!!! This is a spoof of one of my mirror portraits. I recognized it instantly. This time you have gone too far. !

in other words

this cat bites

well maybe not this cat

05-19-2007, 08:30 PM
Here are some more lions to study if you all would like to continue
with lions. I find them very much a challenge. I'm sorry didn't
write down who they all belong to, some you can tell.

Ps Mony your lady you drew, you did very good, I just peaked
and you can really feel the weight of the roundness.

And thanks Susan for the comment about the lion, his was ink
I wish my camera showed the colors a little better. I thought
for mother's day I'd get a new one, hahaha I got perfume :)

Oh I did find the horse, but I'm am keeping it till later, maybe we
want to do challenge 6 for horses? Or do we want to do them here?

Let me know, any ideas about challenge six yet? Should we ask in
the mermaid thread for ideas? Maybe peacocks?

Here are some more lions for summer fun

Edwin Landseers

05-20-2007, 01:11 PM

Nickel - I like your lion - his face is tranfixing.......better not hang around ...that cat is gonna bat me upside the head.... Your pink background is delicious......how adventurous of you.

05-22-2007, 09:04 AM
here are some sketches of Puddin'. The kitten I am spending most of my "free" time on. We named him Puddin' cause he smells like it from the "formula" - milk & egg yolk & corn syrup mixture.

Not exactly a lion.......

05-22-2007, 09:05 AM
His eyes were not open at that stage.

it really is just delightful to get to see your drawings and sketchs and pastels.

you both are just an inspiration and motivator with your art!

05-23-2007, 01:50 PM
Thanks Nickel

Tyree - that big eyed pussy cat is the cat's meow!!! Especially bewitched the eyes - such depth and sphereic - ness. If I were a mouse I would be transfixed.

Hey, wouldn't it be fun to do Whistler's mom as a mermaid:eek:

05-24-2007, 09:22 AM
Here is Puddin with his eyes open.....he struggled the whole time and then finally just gave up and put his head down but I was finishing this drawing, this is done in orange liquid inkball pen.

05-24-2007, 03:30 PM
azul...these are so neat...im really enjoying seeing him !!! are you having to get up in the middle of the nite and feed him too?? hey nickel and azul..is there a cheap joes festival going on in the month of june in north carolina??? i thought i read something about it....tyree:wave:

05-24-2007, 05:17 PM
Azulparsnip, Puddin is so cute!!!! So young and already pudding is famous! :)

Tell Puddin not every kitty gets so many drawings so early in life, lol.

Hi Susan, I was scrolling looking for your lock, it's not here but I saw it, it looks very real. Great job indeed!

About Cheap Joe, yep, just checked he's got something going on, he & Jerry's Art in Raleigh both have instructional classes to learn, neither are close to me. I should not say it, but, I'd only go for the regional food ;)
Some ladies I know that go recommend the last day as the day to go to these events as vendors reduce supplies so many stock up.

Also, I'm sure there are great instructor's at these events.

If one where to visit NC, here would be a place of interest

for a classical short summer course

or if you don't go that way, check here

Hi Ladies!
I was nosing here just to see that darling Puddin' opened his eyes... you must be So busy with the little one , Azul ! Great work on lions and

I've been doing a great deal of graphite drawing in these days , just to practice ... and I also finished this one ... I mean ... I don't really know if it is finished , but I'm really fed up with it !

...no felines for me ... I painted a cat at the workshop but can't put it in as it will probably take part to a painting competition next month!

05-25-2007, 07:32 PM
mony...its gorgeous...the vase looks like its made of pearl....tyree:heart:

05-28-2007, 07:52 AM
lovely tea Mony, I like the gentle integration of the curvy flower lines with the table via the vase and cups - kinda like the cups are kin to the flowers, oh oh ,, I am waxing the poetic/ paint- tangent. Hope you can maybe post the cat later??

Good to hear of all your classes and studies. I just know you are growing as an artist. YEAH

Ohhh, I was planning to go to the Cheap Joes convention. Had it on the calendar but on our way home from the airport from Hawaii our car quit. It had been threatening for about a year. I was afraid it would quit on the way to airport to leave for Hawaii but blessed be God, it happened after the trip.....all this to say we are now proud owners of a 2003 Honda but also on a tight budget. The show is only 2 hrs from me. Maybe something will turn and I'll get to go, nahhhh. ......go the last day, huh....... sounds like good advice:rolleyes:

05-28-2007, 07:56 AM
Nickel & Tyree - yes Puddin' is still wet under the chin.....and takes alot but I do not get up at night to feed him. I love it when he purrs...... draw that?????? ummmm....

hi, ladies... i'm here, poking at the computer keys and i can't use any capital letters as i am holding good old birba cat in my lap... i didn't mind that pastel drawing of mine but my teacher told me i treated the upper part in a more "graphic" way than the lower one .... and sort of flunked it ! ( now I can use capital letters again!.. the cat went away!)
... so I am a bit disappointed with it ! thank you for appreciating ...I'm so glad to be able to share my work with you !... so I can read other opinions concerning it: and that can make one grow !... and azul.. I only think I am trying to catch up for all the time I worked on my own ! You girls are growing too... especially tyree, to my opinion , is making a lot of progress!
I'm also glad to see you enjoy joining to my art journey!

Thank you all ! I'll have the cat posted in as soon as I can , but I also have other two canvases to photograph and to share with you!
be reading from you soon

Ah, I've been around but have been nursing that kitten, Puddin and then school is out so my two younguns are home, but we are getting adjusted- put up a chore chart which has been fun having them ready lunch and wash up the mess.

Here are a couple quickies, one of my husband bathing - we are kinda backwoods (only cold running water) even though we live close to town.
and one of the kittens - we captured Puddin's two sisters before their mom made them wild (YES) . I am trying to emulate June's line drawings (reverie).

06-25-2007, 11:53 AM
Susan what I like about your art best is that even after all this time, when I look at your art, I see you, the artist. :)

Azulparsnip, I've heard that cold water is best for keeping skin young looking:)

Draw that man a bear skin rug

Puddin is looking good

Let me ask, anyone want to host challenge seven?
Should I ask in the horse thread?

 Nickel

 coolbeans ...naked men in our summer camp!!! ~~~~~nickel...i thought of this for a challenge..but, if you get another idea that you all like better...thats cool too....how about a little more classical theme for july...a william bouguereau copy...there are so many of his works to emulate....they could use any medium...and he always seems one of the most popular...in the arc hes listed number one...what do you think???? have a good art week...im sketching a baby vulture:evil: tyree !!! :D

06-25-2007, 02:37 PM
Well scrub my hide!

There really are true blue hippies still living in the hills of North Carolina? Ah those days of yore when I was a desciple. But I couldn't hold the course.

Let me tell you blueturnip, that drawing of hubby in the bath tub is Piccasoesque, and that is high praise. The little one bathing in the sardine can, is that a Blue Ridge proverb a la Margreet and Brugel?

06-25-2007, 09:20 PM

I guess we could do him, he'd be a challenge for me. I don't do more classical too easy,
more romantic yes      ;) woof

Remember this one, I liked this one

Inspired by a poem "La Jeune Tarantine"; "L'Aveugle" (on the legend of the blind Homer) byAndre Marie de Che'nier, a painting by Bouguereau

06-25-2007, 10:08 PM

Hi everybody... been away for a week and a lot of activity sure had come out while I was away!
I love the dog in that painting too ... what a good idea to have a challenge on a single painting ... although a peacock or bird challenge could be appreciated ... I think !

 hi mony...i had forgotten about peacocks...i remember now, you guys wanted a challenge on them...or birds...that would also be great...watcha think miss nickel???? tyree:p

06-26-2007, 03:00 PM
lol, birds, yes, my brain is over heated these days, it's so hot here!!!
Peacocks would suit more my temperment these days.

There are some cute ones in the wc library.

I love reading stories about peacocks and all the ways they are used as symbols.

Much less time to do a bird than a bouggettt :) I made up that word. :)

06-27-2007, 09:42 PM
Want to run a picture by you and get an opinion, is something like this
what we want to do for a challenge next month?
Do we want to do the same picture?

Do we just want to do peacocks or include other birds????

I can find nothing much at all except reproductions of this painting
so I can only assume a lot of people liked it.

I found this bird and liked it a lot too.

Edwin Landseer

SO we could do our choice or do both or pick our own. Paint/draw from life or do one from the WC Library.

Please help and give some feedback. Anyone want to host? Any two or three people want to co-host together?

:) Nickel

06-28-2007, 04:22 PM
 nickel...that peacock..looks way complicated for me:o but, i do think i could give that hawk a run....I think running both pics, would be ideal!! tyree

06-28-2007, 07:24 PM
 Susan, lol, that peacock is pretty :) It will be hard for me too...either one.......
I liked the falcon too. I wonder what those things are behind it? Anyway, I am thinking of not running the challenge on the wc front page this coming month. I think enough people know we are doing these if they want to join in. And, I'll be glad to host it again, no problem. Maybe we could do a few more different types of birds, not complicated, but for study. Or maybe a complicated one just for study :) I learn a lot when we study works like this. Ok, well going out for dinner shortly. I am so starved.

06-28-2007, 08:05 PM
nickel...sounds like a plan...let everyone help you too!!!! tyree:heart: ps...thats the birds head gear..i think...

06-28-2007, 09:05 PM
Thank you dear!!! I'd love company and help.

Head gear, I'd hadnot a clue

Makes perfect sense I think, never knew birds needed head gear,
let's see where I have I've been living, under a rock, lol. :cat:

I'd like peacocks but perhaps it would be less difficult to include other kinds of birds ! ... please host it , Nickel, and don't put it on the first page as I agree that now enough people knoew about these monthly challenges and join just the same if they are really interested !

by the way... great reference photos...

06-30-2007, 10:32 AM
Thanks for your support Mony. I'll put something up a little later. ;)

Hi Susan,

I do really like the rose, and really like the orange background!!! Really!
You should do more of these type roses, really. It's good.

Your little hands are pretty too. You can read a lot of meaning into
this composition.

Rains, we had some this week too..........:D

My Little Art Diary

07-26-2007, 11:23 PM
  hmmmm musical instruments are always a challenge... tyree

07-27-2007, 08:45 AM
Either cats or musical instruments is fine with me, I like doing the same compo together, but I can find something too........

Tyree I really, REALLY like your flower - it has an oriental feel to it and the background coloring is perfect. The hands is a lovely theme, great job on the nails of the larger hand.

Nickel, great photo of the kitty. Looks like you are off for a vacation:cool:

07-30-2007, 12:58 PM

08-28-2007, 03:16 AM
Hello everyone...have we settled on a topic for the sept challenge? I will be on holiday in Sept....maybe for a month...but I might be able to do a little something. I am going up to visit relatives in Scotland and obviously had better take my sketchbook and camera and not miss out on the scenery there!!

Did someone mention colour...or maybe views??

08-29-2007, 09:57 AM
Hi June, I know you will have a great time on holiday.
That I know of, we have talked about autumn and landscapes and acorns and leaves for Sept. Will they fit with your plans ?
And you are right, we have talked about the color red.
Maybe we can do a little of all of the above.

I'd love to see some photographs of Scotland and sketches too! :)

08-30-2007, 01:33 AM
Hi Nickel, I am off to Scotland on Monday. Hope to take photos to show you. Hope to find time to sketch too. Should be turning gold and red with Autumn colours up there; so it should fit in with Sep challenge (luckily)!!

08-30-2007, 12:50 PM

We are going to miss June, hope your vacation is great! :)

Now a question to those of us still here, lol, do we want to go back to weekly threads now that summer is over?
