mountains on my mind

After getting to work in California for a week I am still doing paintings of the mountains I saw. I think they made an impression on me..lots of trees and water in Michigan...very few mountains.

This is beautiful! Lovely colors! Yes only hills and lakes in Michigan! Not very much in the way of altitude - Porcupine Mountains in the UP is about it! :lol: :)

The words have been used before but they are the first ones that came to my mind upon seeing this - Lovely colors!
I like too the way the colors and shapes in the sky seem to reflect and imitate the contours of the land.

thank you so much for your comments. Watercolor washes on hot press paper give the most vivid colors. And Kirk your right, the UP is beautiful, but I never appreciated mountains till I was out west. Maybe it is because the forest and lakes capture my attention even in the UP...out west there are, what I call naked moutains:)
