Hi All,
Finished this up today...this is just north of where I live. Went through there a week ago and snapped this reference photo with all of those clouds rolling by. There wasn't much strong shadows on the trees in the ref...maybe I should have added them just to make the light source more readable...not sure.
This is the last of my wide format canvases so I need to hit up an art store now. Hope you like it.
All C&C gladly welcome....

Great painting Ron, I like how the eye first hits the trees, then moves across with the clouds and the horizon and returns with the furrows or lines in the field to the foreground. Well laid out and beautifully painting Ron! Brian

Hi hbstone - Thanks, the skies had great clouds and a nice change of late evening colors....and it was fun to paint!
Hi Brian - Well, I'd like to take credit for the composition but this was more just cropping a good scene. I did however plan the size of the trees to be pretty much eye grabbing along with their dark contrasting colors. Thanks Brian!
Hi Tony - See...that brings up your painting loose thing Tony. I was painting pretty loose but lately have been getting tighter in my work with these wide format scenes....I'll have to keep that in mind. As my nepheew says, "Good looking out!"

As always, you've done a great job on your sky. The clouds are beautifully done. This wide format really pays justice to such a lovely panoramic view!
The composition looks well balanced. The furrows in the dirt on the left perfectly balance the weight of the trees on the right. Great job! I look forward to seeing more.

Hi Wayne - I'm glad you said that....I'm off on another one as soon as this typing is over. Thanks Wayne.

Well, Ron, everybody's already said it all. Great sky, great comp, a nice, beautiful day. I like the way the mountain range in the distance is stronger on the left, and fades in the trees. Nice touch. Beautiful job!

Definitely better than any photo. Everything has a soft like edge, a dreamy like quality. Very relaxing and idyllic.

Hi Gavin,
Thanks for the comments. I'm trying to keep my edges soft thanks to the influence of lots of painters here on WC and elsewhere in the world. Makes for a nice effect.

Hi John,
Normally I do take pics on a lot of paintings and right after starting this one I decided to take some here....but, my camera battery was dead and would have to wait about 2 hours...so I just painted it. I'll do some on one of the upcoming ones. Sorry.
