Hi there,
My husband just bought me a Pentax k10D. I had a Pentax istDL which for the most part I was happy with, the autofocus was much slower than I would have liked but it was my first digtal SLR so for an intruduction to the digital world it was very nice. He had started telling me about the K10D and surprised me with it a few weeks ago. He found a deal too good to pass up. Anyways, I'm pretty excited about it. The autofocus is so much faster than the ist. There are no "dumby buttons" as I like to call them (auto modes for close up and such) which scared me a little but I'm finding things on it that I love. It's also a very hefty well build camera body. From what i've been reading it has a different approach than other digital SLR's.
Just wanted to share my excitment and if anyone has some pointers out there for me on this camera please share.

thanks

I do actually have some flowers I shot over the weekend. It's only about a week old so not too many pic's yet. I will post some tonight when I get home.
thanks for the interest. :D

Me too!

I was looking long and hard at the K10D as I originally wanted the Nikon D200 mainly for it's build quality and after reading the early reviews on your camera wanted to try one out. In the end my impatience won out and I went with a Nikon as the K10D was still in pre-released.

Congrats on the new dslr! I'll join the queue of those eagerly awaiting sample images.

Okay, here are some photo's I just got done playing with in photo shop. I still have a ton to learn about this camera. To be honest, I'm not even sure what my settings were when I shot these. :( I had it in the SV mode, which is where you chose the ISO and then the camera ajusts the rest. I uploaded the original photo and after photoshop. The original was very dull and gloomy. It wasn't the greatest day for shooting flowers.

Christy I can see you are going to enjoy the camera. In photoshop you should be able to look at the file properties and it will tell you what the camera settings were.

thanks! I've been learning alot and realizing there is a ton of stuff out there that I didn't even know existed. I usually hang out in the drawing section of WC but after I got my camera I thought I'd peek in here.
