Hi James. I've done mostly landscapes myself (only a handful in acrylic, though), and have recently veered into portraiture. I have received a lot of help and encouragement here. :)

Check the size of the image. Less than 150kb always works. Oh! And if you have abnormal/unusual characters (e.g.%) in the title it may not load

The above is a photo of myself.

I think this is the first step to being able to reply to those who replied so promptly thanks for the help.

James, congrats on posting your first images. Your grandsons photo is a good one and the warmth of the overall image is amazing. The blue braid over the right shoulder is going to be important to cool the whole thing off just a tad. Looking forward to see where this goes.

Again, congratulations, on all levels.

Your grandson favors you a great deal. Both are very good photos. I am looking forward to seeing your portrait of your grandson and your landscape work. :)

James,
You have a fine looking grandson. I can't wait to see some of your work. Just keep plugging. I'm new and still learning to get around here, but it's a great site and all the people are willing to help. There's tons of information and lots of how-tos. Welcome.
Gail

My thanks to all you great people for your comments. I spent to-day at a poetry workshop and will sort out some landscape paintings in a day or two. Judging by what I have seen so far I think this will be a wonderful site.JamesH

It really is not hard. If you have it saved on your computer. When you start a thread go down to manage pictures (whatever it says ;) and click and download.

Hi James welcome to the forum.

It's good to see you finding your way about. Great photos.

Your grandsons portrait will be fun to do. To quote Howard... Your grandsons photo is a good one and the warmth of the overall image is amazing. The blue braid over the right shoulder is going to be important to cool the whole thing off just a tad... You may be able to pick out a few cool areas in the face as well. In the area under the eyes and in the chin I see some cool pinks.
Looking forward to seeing some landscapes.
