View Full Version : Our Lady Of Seven Sorrows church
There is this little church on a remote spot of this island that I have wanted to paint. Last week I went there; got all set up, and just when I was going to paint my first stroke it started raining. By the time I got all my stuff back to my truck, I looked like a drowned rat. Today I tried it again, and this little church allowed me to paint her. Yax

nice composition Yax....and I really enjoy the inviting shadows and spotted light in the foreground.....
Last week, we had sun, spring...green grass, kids playing softball and baseball, and I was raking the yard. This morning, we have about a foot of snow outside, and the branches of the trees are so weighed down they are just a few inches some from the ground. Gotta love the northwoods!

Very nice-- beautiful colors. The only suggestion I would make is in future to lower the horizon a little bit. It looks like when you frame this you're going to lose almost all of the sky. Good work, though!

Looking good yax
.. have to agree with Lisa .. another inch of sky would have been nice.
Thanks lseiler, walden and Wayne Gaudon. When I set up this painting I wanted the shady spots in the foreground, and I wanted to capture the background mountains. I knew in a short time that I didn't leave enough sky. After reading your comments I made a few changes; so this painting is not a true En Plein Aire, but now is a "En Plein Aire fin dans le studio" :D Yax

I like this one better as the background is not as busy and now you pay more attention to the little church instead of roaming the hills.

Well, I think it is an artistically stronger painting now, but I MISS those hills-- they were lovely, and I liked wandering around in them. :)
