...Yes, 10!

I given a fairly loose hand with this one, originally the background was going to be a flat cream with blue poppies but I have since seen where they will hang and something niggled me. I felt the space needed more!

So...I set about my sketchbooks with my pen and inktense pencils to create a couple of scaled sketches to show how much bolder I wanted to go and ...They're a hit.

Sketches in my small moleskin

The background colour will be the same colour of the clients wall beneath the dado rail, carrying a harmony up to the sparse cream above.

I laid the background in with a knife THICKLY, it took a day to dry! I have prepared 3 canvasses so far, so I could see if the idea from my sketches translated well to canvas and acrylic.

Been AGES since I shared something here, busy sketching my way through the Fens these days, so I thought this would be a nice long thread giving me plenty of scope to catch up with you all properly.

Oh...and I brought carrot cake! :D ...Tuck in!!!

Oh...I should mention....

I will be painting all 10 from imagination/memory and in a much looser style than I usually paint...a tad impressionistic even...maybe...LOL!

Oh cool, looking forward to this project. How large will each one be? Your sketches look great with the more impressionistic look. :)

I'll bring ginger cake if that's OK - carrot cake's not my taste :D ;)

So grabbed the first seat for comfort :wink2:

Question please - where did you get your moleskine? - can't get one up here.

I'm off again today for the weekend so I just popped over to the studio to photograph my progress with this piece before I go.

This is about 30 mins in, 2 canvasses pushed together (8x10")...Just placing the flowers so far not much attention given to anything in particular, just some basic colour.

See you when I get back!
