I just LOVE the use of vibrant color and perspective here! It is lent an "animation" type of feel without becoming "cartoony".

Very strong piece. I think it's done too:)

This really jumps out at you. The bright blue background is so incredibly effective. The piece is so playful overall. I love the impressionistic feel that seems mixed with the very realistic horses face and light logic across his left side. I though for a minute that maybe the head was a bit large but the perspective of the horses face coming at you alleviates that and making it any smaller you would lose some of that playfullness. Really nice.

The piece is awesome. However, and I tread lightly here. There appears to be this lump on the right side of his head. I am a horse painter and raise horses. I can't see this lump remaining in the picture.
You could go in and take some of this out and it would be ok.

Thank you Gary !
Purpleyoyo,Thanks, yes it is the perspective which confuses,it's from very low on the ground.
Linda, Glad you enjoyed it,as I had fun painting it!
mcbstone,Thanks but I wish you would be more specific about where the lump is .Do you mean the jawline ? or above the eye?I supose I could take a little off that jawline or rather add a little right under the cheekpeice on the bridle strap.I tried to do the piece rather loosely so there may be more innacurate details..Thanks!

I like the lump! It makes the horse look like he is smiling. Furthermore I think the warm contrast of the horse to the cool sky is brilliant. I love it.

I like the perspective, because it makes me think of a child's point of view. Another reason to smile. :)

oh. Oh. I am loving this very much. I persoanlly so not fing the image cartoonish in any way. It is a fun and lovely piece. Your use of the blue outlines and the colors are amazing. (I guess I am really into colors tonight) But, I find this superb.

As soon as I saw this painting I thought "It's wonderful! I hope no one talks her into changing anything. But.....when I read the comment about the lump....I went to look again......and I think he has a point. So....I put the painting in paint brush to see how she'd look without the lump.

You made us all smile. Lovely work!

thompie-Thankyou for your comments! The horses head is turned slightly and the "lump" is his jaw.I admit there is a little dent there which I have altered now in the painting.I will try to upload a crop of my photo ref.:)

I love what you have done here. The painting is refreshing and as you can see has quite an affect on the viewers. When I saw your reference phot I realized then what a great style you have. You turned a so so picture into a real work of art. Very well done.

Fantastic perspective. I agree on removing the lump - even though it is clearly in the original picture. I love the way that you've indicated the sunshine on the contours of his face, and I think that the lump distracts from it.

His hiney looks like it might be a little skinny for a horse too, unless that's what it looks like in the original picture.

Absolutely fabulous, other than that. Great, great painting.

Goldenart, Thankyou for the very nice compliments!

Cloxie, I have adjusted the "lump a very small amount since I took that picture and it does look better. His hinny does look that way in the pic too because of the perspective.Funny how a different perpective throws people off ,it seems their eyes still want to see things in the way they are acustomed to.Thanks so much for the comments!
